monster mummy: In fact in enopi, they uses number bonding concept for addition and subtraction. And once you are well versed in the 2 operations, they will moved on to multiplication, memorise is definately not required, but if u can with understanding will be bonus. These days kids don’t memorise the tables like what we did in the old days…So how they teach, they learn simple table 1-2 first and move on to the tougher ones eg 7,8. For 1-5 tables…eg: Q:2x6 kids, kids will first know 2x5 = 10 and they add 2 to it. So the benchmark is always on 5 and 10.

Critical thinking and basic maths move different level, they dont need to be on the same level.

          Hi June,

Yes, noted for the information. As for the methodology, i believed that it will depend on various centre. As my kid is current has not reach the level of the multiplication, therefore, i can’t tell whether he is memorising or understand by concept. Because before that, his teacher actually going through the number with him on the multiplication.

Actually, after every lesson, the teacher did provide feedback and tips which we parents can learn when we guide them at home 🙂 So that's how I gather the info. And Enopi doesn't encourage memorising as well, understanding of the concept is more impt.

My DS was with Enopi this yr, last wkend was informed by teacher that she stopped running all her 6 centres, it shocked me cos so last min. My DS was at their Serangoon Gdn centre, told me if want to continue, got to go to those few centres that are operating which actually not convenient for me liao. So no choice, will look out for other maths enrichment for my DS liao...

oh, could it be a change of management? 'cos there’re still 4 branches left. I was told that all along Enopi was franchised but they’re now opening their own… Has anyone double checked with them on this?
