      Gecko:
....Academically, I cannot say that MMK is the best or even one of the best. Probably somewhere in the middle. On this, don't expect too much........ But I think MMK provides quite good pastorial care. I am a Catholic, so it was either MMK or the kindy run by Holy Spirit Church.

The wide open spaces are great for the kids. Don't worry about it too much. One bonus is that no air-con. \"Fresh Air\" πŸ˜‰

All in all, my kids enjoyed / are enjoying their stay in MMK. My girl misses it.

An unexpected bonus is that quite a lot of the girls end up at SNG, CHIJ (TPY) or Marymount Convent OR Pei Chun / Ai Tong. Many of my daughter's friends ended up at SNG so that was great for her.

      Hoped that helped!

      Gecko

PS- put your kid in the am session. I always thought that it is better for the kid.
      Hi Gecko,
Thanks, that is re-assuring for me!
MMK is one of the better kindy (dare I say the best?) around this area already plus the huge open space and greenery, fresh air is such a plus!

My MIL attends the Holy Spirit Church!

You mention academic wise \"average\"? But my friend also told me like what you said, a number of students from this kindy ended up in SNG, Ai Tong etc.. without any problems hence standard should be OK!

Anyway I am really looking for a wholistic pre-school for my boy, one that is definitely not too academic but one whereby I hope he will enjoy himself to the fullest (and learn in the process of fun!).

Can you believe when I register him, my boy got the LAST vacancy for next year? In the PM session, no hope for the AM session, long queue! Anyway it starts at 11 am considered late morning so OK for me. I think we will have a hard-time getting him to wake up so early for the 8 am session!

Thanks & nice talking to you!

        Desert Wind,

When I said \"academically avereage\", I meant that if your child i really v smart, he/she is sure to get very bored at MMK. But hey, what the heck, I agree with you. Kindy is the time to let them be children!

True, many kids going to Ai Tong, SNG etc find no problems but I suspect that it could be because of the enrichment class.

Even if you don't get am session and really wantit, no problems. Check with Lillian, who runs the school office. If you \"arr\" with her, I am sure you can fin a place. If not the following year. MMK gives existing pm session kids 1st opportunity to switch session.

BTW, my sister will be sending her 2d one there next year. Also for pm session. Also one of last few to enroll. Two of you aren't related are you?? πŸ˜„

Another thing I like is the school bus. All run by the same company. This made it easy when I wanted the bus to send kids home (Yishun) on 2 days and to Grandma's place (Sin Min) for the other days. No problems. Unlike now at SNG when I cant make this arrangement (Grrrrr).

Hey.MMK gets top marks from me. Kids have made good friends and so have we!

        Gecko

PS - maybe I know your MIL (ha). I have been going to Holy Spirit for almost 37 years!

I am actually a bit scared of the admin. lady leh...ke..ke...ke

Ya, when I called to register, there were 3 vacancies, just over 1 afternoon went back to take documents, came back became last vacancy! Perhaps your sister was the one I \"rubbed shoulder\" with at the admin. office during that same day? 😐

Wah, same church for 37 years! No joke!

How about getting an AVATAR soon for your nickname? I suppose it would be a pix of a lizard? 😐

                Desertwind,

I would love a Gecko avatar.

Unfortunately, I am clueless when it comes to such things......

PS - imagine. I bought an electric typewriter when I started at NUS!

                        Hi Gecko,

Just checking did you put your kids into MMK from K1 or earlier from Nursery?

I have enrolled for next year Nursery (4yo) but now am really tempted to defer it for another year and go for the morning session instead of afternoon. Reason being DH and myself really wanted to send him to school before we go to work. Also we think 4 yo he will benefit more from a smaller class size.

As for next year 4 yo, still got time to be more flexible to DIY enrichments like go for Berries for 2 days, Julia Gabriel or other enrichments for other days....

                        Any comments appreciated.
