Funny, bcos the sch checked to make sure we r within 1km last yr b4 registration during 2B. Did it check this yr?

I went last Fri 23 Jul to register for my son under 2B, the staff never ask, just submit doc/fill form and told to wait for outcome on Tue 27 Jul.

Oh, so it's not as hot as last yr's 2B for <1km.

I have a question. For Nan Chiau, if I am a SHHK member but I stay more than 2km away from the school, would I fall under the category of >2km? Cos I was told that all SHHK members will be considered as 1-2km, even if I stay >2km away.

Yet another confused parent.


Being a SHHK member doesn't make you nearer to the school, it qualifies you to register in phase 2B IF you manage to get the recommendation letter.

Registration phases are determined by your relationship with the school (see MOE http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/). Distance from your home to school plays a part only when there are more applicants than there are places (see Footnote of the same MOE webpage).

there is no such advantage.

Assuming you registered under Phase 2B this yr, you will be unsuccessful as balloting is for 1-2km, meaning all >2km ones are unsuccessful, regardless of whether you're PV, GRL or SHHK.

Then my friend has been lying to me. I am very puzzled because I know that there isnt such an advantage as far as I know and the MOE would not allow such practice.

She is registering her child this yr and her home is more than 2km from NC. She said even if she did PV, it would be wasted as balloting was for 1-2km. Then she said she got in because her husband is in SHHK and all SHHK was considered between 1-2km. I smell dishonesty then.

i went to ask her again, and now she tells me her house is less than 2km. i think she herself is confused about the registration procedures and do not know what the hell is happening. duh... anyway, case closed.

Hi, can anyone help with my sub pls… just a stone throw away from my place, also thinking that it is a new school hence should be okay… but simply just cant data on it.


Was thinking not to stress my girl with school work and let her enjoy her childhood and also looking at the balloting… thinking my choice of school will be gone.
