I have done a fair bit of research of the CHIJ family school on their past academic results, and this is my initial assessment.

The strange thing about LQP is that the school fails to turn out top scorers lately, maybe that is why it is conveniently ignored when it comes to school selection.

Based on the remarks, the environment seems safe and conducive, as most girls are happy there.
I think the reason that the sch fails to turn out top scorers is that they do not only focus on academics and overpush and drill the kids or set extremely difficult questions like most branded sch. Personally, I think OLQP allows the girls to learn at their pace and in the process gain confidence. Many parents may frown at the streaming system but I find that this system allow the better ones to be stretched further without demoralising the weaker ones.

The school environment is such that the girls are involved in various non-academic projects throughout the year which take time away from academic pursuits. And probably that's why the girls are all generally very happy in school cos they do not go to school to just do worksheets after worksheets, there's all the other fun things to explore as well.

My girl is very happy in the sch, so much so that she doesn't want to take the GEP papers cos she said she doesn't want to be transferred to another sch if she gets selectd. (not that she will be selected in the first place πŸ˜‰ )

Hi! I just want to know how the Chinese language is in OLQP? My daughter is not reall fluent in Mandarin. I’m worried about Chinese composition as well.

              Hi Lock,

My opinion is just to ler her try, to see where she stands and to gain an experience. If there is no expectation, then there will be no pressure. πŸ˜„
              just my kaypo view lah!

I saw some discussion on no top scorer for PSLE. Since our daughters are the first batch that got enrolled after the rebuild of the school, I think the girls in the top two classes are doing fairly good. So may be there will be suprise when they finally sit for their PSLE or their seniors may stage some suprise in term of results performance before them.

I am benchmarking my girl with my friend's daughter who is top few in a SAP school and i seriously think there is no significant gap in the standard. Anyway, maybe it is still early, lets see and hope for the best.

i am quietly confident about the potential of students of this school in doing well in PSLE. i believe its only a matter of time before we see some top scorers from this school.

Regarding the chinese std, in 2009 almost 89% of students have quality passes in chinese. if this is not a good result then i wonder what more you can ask for.

I've received the orientation slip from the school but there is no mention on the purchase of books, uniforms etc? Will all these be done on the orientation day? Will we be informed of all these details separately before the orientation day? OLQP mummies, kindly advise.

                  Thanks!

Finally, the school has revamped their website...

                    http://www.chijourladyqueenofpeace.moe.edu.sg/

                    Hi luvmum,

If i am not mistaken, I received the orientation notification and sales of books and uniforms together by mail.

For the books purchase, i wld reccommend you to order thru the website... pacific bookstores before the orientation day. https://www.pacificbookstores.com/index.aspx#2

you will be given a order no then the bookstore will have it pre-packed in a box then you collect it and check the contents inside. it is more hassel- free. you can even have it deliver to your place πŸ˜„

Hi, I am new to kiasu parents forum and am very happy to find this parents networking group. I have 2 gals in CHIJ (OLQP). Elder one in P3, younger one in P1. Generally, I hv no complaints about the sch. Yes, I agree that some of their admin staff are not as friendly. I understand that all P4s need to participate in CCA. Any good recommendation which CCA my P3 gal shld join next yr? I am thinking of Brownie. Just wonder how often do they meet for activities? Can anyone pls enlighten me?

                        Thanks a million πŸ˜„
