Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

Hi All!!
I'm a mother to a wonderful \"pig\" year (2007) girl and would like to network and get to know more parents out there!
Though I know that it would be another few years before she attends pri school, I am already feeling stressed out over which Pri School to send her to. So hope you guys can give me some advice!
I am staying in Kovan currently and have interest to send her to Rosyth School (I'm within 2km). Though I know its virtually impossible to enrol her unless I move within 1Km and PV / grassroot or beg (kidding)
I'm from Kong Hwa School previously so alot of my friends have advise me to just go for Kong Hwa and not waste time to PV for Rosyth ...
Can anyone share some thoughts on this? Thanks! :? -
Hi LKVM!
Thanks for your reply, any idea what’s the strength of Kong Hwa now? You have a child studying there now?
Thanks as I have totally lost touch of the school’s progress over the years… -
Hi momocha,
Let's go to the PV forum and will tell you more about my PV at BPPS, ok?

Hi KS parents,
I’m choosing between Marymount Convent and OLGC for my girl. Can anyone shed some light on which school is doing better in terms of academically and overall achievements? -

For achievements of both schools, you can always check their websites.Hi KS parents,

From past years, Marymount Convent always had lots of places at Phase 2C Supp. OLGC runs out by Phase 2C. If you go by that, I would say choose OLGC.
However, from comparison at CHIJ Family of schools thread, OLGC seems to be the least popular among all the IJs with some parents saying OLGC teachers are not so \"on\". Also, OLGC is affiliated to St Joseph's Convent so you need to think if you want your dd to go there. Marymount closed down its Sec section in the 80s... -
Thanks Cherrygal. I’ve checked their websites. Based on their PSLE results, both schools are strong in their English and standard-wise, they are quite similar. I’m not keen on St. Joseph’s Convent but looking for a good environment in which my girl can be nurtured into a confident, articulate and driven young lady.
Seems there are alot of good comments about Marymount Convent in KS parents but can’t seem to find anything much about OLGC. Just afraid its school environment is too laidback. Wondering if there are any feedback from parents of OLGC girls? -

Go to the CHIJ Family of Schools thread. Not many comments but there's a parent who compared OLGC with OLN and took OLN. -
