ya, and my children are catholics too and we cant even be sure of getting them into catholic schools near my place! What's going on? In my case it's totally hopeless whether i register under PV phase 2B or Catholic Phase 2B!

So the point to Xinxin was, since she's already a PV, the only thing she can do is to move <1km to the school to better her chances or she would be really wasting her time if she doesn't get to ballot at all.

We wont be moving anywhere near the school of choice. Within 1km may also need to ballot, plus we love our place in AMK. Im continuing PV for now...till other options come along. Besides, the children im working with in the PV sch are great kids!!

I dunno if you feel the same way as me, but for PVs who have no other choice at Phase 2B (non-Catholic, clan etc), they can just show hand at CHS or ATS. They have nothing to lose. But for catholics like us who can go to all catholic schools at Phase2B, we think doubly hard coz it is like wasting an opportunity at our 2nd choice if our 1st choice is gone. Our 2nd choice may not even have places for us >2km at P2C. Take the gamble only if you are absolutely fine with your kids going to a neighbourhood school at 2C Supp. I want my son in a good catholic school so I didn't want to gamble at CHS at 2B.

Im assuming you are registering in 2011 for 2012 P1. Have you given your name to the school for PV duties yet?? If not, doubt you can apply now liao. Closing date over already.

Hi Vicki, im already a pv of the school, but was saying i'd like to quit since i dun think i'll stand a chance next yr as im staying out of 1km. Of course it's too late now to pv for my 2nd choice of school.

It's not too late to redirect your efforts. I only started PV in late Sept and clocked 40hrs by Feb.

OTOH, if you are getting joy out of what you do, then by all means stay where you are.

Great philosophy. More important things in life than to uproot whole families for a shot at a 'coveted' school.

But xinxin, if your children are catholics, you already qualify for Phase 2B, why do you need to do PV ? Does PV + Catholic qualify you for earlier phases ? If not, why don't you re-direct your PV efforts to other schools ?

I decided on a school first, which happens to be very near my parents' place. And tat school is not a catholic school. My mum can help me look after the kids after sch when me and hb are at work. Thats the pri reason why i chose to pv in that school.

I also qualify under catholic phase 2B if i decide to enrol children in Catholic schools. But i didnt choose to pv in those schools cos even the nearer catholic schools are still more than 1km from where i stay. Sigh!!

But being both a pv and a catholic certainly does not qualify me for an earlier phase.

Redirect? But think most schools hv closed applications by now...
