Coolmummy:
Congrats to all who got into RMPS. I got a place for my son in Phase 2a but withdrew yesterday at Phase 2c. Thus added to the 89th vacancy. Now I am happy for all those are <1km and got into the school without a ballot.

Hi Coolmummy, where did you register your boy in the end?? -
We registered at ACSJ coz we are <1km from the school. We were worried of not able to get a place in ACSJ or have to go thru a ballot coz the situation was really uncertain.

Are you confirmed in already - asin for <1km is it confirmed entry? Or would there be a ballot? -
63 applicants <1km vs 64 vacancies. Total 76 applications.
I read in the other thread that there will be a ballot for that 1 vacancy for the 12 applicants who are of the 1-2km.
But i will only feel very certain about the success in getting the place in the school when i receive the black & white confirmation letter from the school.

Thank you very much, Vicki!
Yah, it was a really close close shave. I was breaking in cold sweat while waiting for the results. Imagine how close i was in having to go through a ballot. -

Had been a bit influence be y neighbours that CHIJ (Kellock) is quite a good school. So a bit tempted to put the DD in another primary school. Well that would be 2 years later.
Titank,titank:
Oh that is good where everybody get in. Maybe the 2 withdrawal  from phase 1 & get into CHIJ (Kellock) I guess.
Seem like CHIJ (Kellock) much easier to get in even they have less slot where at 200 per year.Maybe next time I would give CHIJ (Kellock) a try.
Isn't your elder boy in RMPS? Then why would you need to even consider CHIJ (Kellock) for your younger girl? :?
Just asking...

Well, I would say most of the better schools in Sg are more-or-less comparable. They all follow the same syllabus and MoE ensures they all have comparable facilities.
And although good teachers can make a difference, I think a lot mainly depends on the child's motivation and attitude towards studies and the parents' guidance and emphasis on education. With the right combination of these factors, even neighbourhood schools can produce GEP students, Maths Olympiad winners and PSLE merit list students. -
