School just called. Its 62 vying for 55 places. Sigh. Why don't they just pick the 7 unlucky parents and get it over with! 8P

Don't forget SG citizens are given 2 slips during the ballot. If they do that, chances of citizens being kicked out doubles as well.

How do you mean? 2 slips doubles your chances of getting picked, not getting elminated. Note, if the large majority are citizens, it makes very little difference.

Oh that means there r 3 parents > 1km who didnt withdraw. :?

Do also note that out of the 62, there are 2 pairs of twins using single ID. That means if either 1 gets it, the other will also get it. So the vacancies effectively reduce by 2 if the twins are picked

All the best as we go thru the balloting next Fri šŸ˜Ž
wah... you even got info on twins! That is thorough... hahahah. yah good luck all. quite exciting.

I was standing at the school for quite a while before i register since I couldnt really make up my mind... so took the chance to find out more from the staff šŸ˜„

From what i understand from the staff,

Single ID for twins means they are given 2 slips for a pair of twins. So 1 in, both in. If they had opt for an ID each for the twins, they would get 2 ID and 4 slips. But if 2 IDs, 1 in doesnt auto qualify the other to be in. So i guess both parents wanted to get the twins in same school.

If the 55th position goes to a pair of twins, then school has to open up 1 more place to make it 56 places. Else, its 55 places only šŸ˜ž

Also, there are only 5 PRs in the group that is going for balloting. So its essentially a citizen vs citizen fight...

From the outset, I had felt that this whole 2 vs 1 slip thingy to be churlish, immature and frankly, of minimal impact. Really sad to see the g'ment cave to popular sentiment on an issue which actually changes little. If you run the tilt in the odds on this over the entire cohort of schools doing balloting at 2B and 2C, I bet the nett effect is no more than 25-50 students impacted. And for that, we were happy to effectively label PRs 2nd class folk.....

If I do have a gripe against the gahment, is that they are far too willing these days to give in to popular sentiment against good, solid, pragmatic policy-making.

But since there are only 5 PRs fighting with the citizens in this case as Poohbear has kindly reported, difference is not very huge also lah.

However, living up to the namesake of a kiasu parent, every possible ever-imaginable chance counts! So I would prefer to stick to the standard ballot šŸ‘… heheh

Well, if they do elimination, the nail biting will be shorter.

its election time, doesn't cost gahment too much, maybe a few more $$$ for the extra ballot slips, to make citizens feel better about themselves.
