Liverpool73:
      KSP:
Everyone's focused on too many ppl within 1km of RGPS this year, which is certainly true - BUT WHAT IS ALSO INTERESTING IS THAT 63 VACANCIES FOR PHASE 2C WAS BY FAR THE LOWEST IN THE PAST FEW YEARS, COMPARED TO 78, 77 AND 86 IN 2007-2009. Any theories on why? PV program too big? Just a random occurence that this year saw an abnormally high influx of alumni's children and/or siblings?? I for one think the PV program ought to be kept small, especially if they arbitrarily decide who to give it to.

The number for P1 and 2A is more this year.

Hmmm... maybe that won't repeat next year... could have been a random occurence... :?
There is also a surge in the number within 1km for 2C. That means more people are moving near the school. From this year experience, I think more parents who are within 1km will sign up for PV to get in during 2B knowing that 2C will not guarentee them a place anymore.

She can teach speech and drama as CCA

Chinese speech and drama, MC for the school during special event. I think VIPs are more likely wanting to see her than other performance. The P also have some face for getting the Queen of Caldecott to come on her school's stage.

I wonder what Jim Rogers did when he was a PV there? Investment seminars for the teachers? 😉

I think the 2nd one is right. I read it somewhere in the paper.

            Lionel Ong:
I will be going down most likely around 10am.. It would really help to have some like minded friends/parents to go together and support each other...

            mum4mygals:

agree!! Will send in an email appeal as well.. 🙏 .
What time will you be going? see if i can join in.

10am may not be a good timing as they will be having N-day celebration.

But numbers are numbers. I really doubt the P can do anything about it. Otherwise other ppl will say she \"kelong\" and i don't think she will risk her and the school's reputation just for the 2 parents. Having said that i think she can do something if the 2 who ballot out put their names at the top of the waitlist.

Jim can charge thousands for anyone willing to pay to listen to his speech. As a PV, he offered his service FOC during school functions, for example, charity dinner to raise fund for indoor sports hall.

Being kiasu parents, we will do everything within our means to secure a place for our children. It is not unheard of parents buying or renting properties within 1km. In an undesignated housing districts, Farrer’s HDB flats and mass market condos are the best source of housing available.

Along Shelford Road, there are new projects TOP 2010 like chateau de shelford, shelford suites, 23 shelford and TOP 2011 like 18 shelford and duke’s residences. Total units above 400. Soon, watten residences, greenwood will add on to hillcrest villas to provide another 400 clutter houses. Not forgetting those newer projects along duchess ave and coronation road.

To secure a place in these schools, be a PV or GRL or letter from MM, SM, PM, or P of S and within 1km. If not, balloting is unavoidable with many new SCs and SPRs also keen of sending theirs to these schools. Whether it is for economic survival or not, once the floodgates are opened, the repercussions are real, those affected will experience them now than later. Count on me , Singapore.
