That's not all. For RGS, GEPers with above 80% overall grade for P6 mid-year exams can skip GAT and selction test. They only have to go for the interview. GEPers with below 80% percent who pass the GAT can skip the selection test and go straight to the interview

Either way, the GEPs get a chance to get interviewed. I am told that in Raffles Institution, non-GEP students can never get a chance to get interviewed at all. My friend told me that interviews are only for GEP students and a non-GEP student will never be given a chance to undergo interview at RI, irrespective of how well he has performed or how brilliant his marks and achievements are.

You can understand how the non-GEP students get treated by the top IP schools. Please correct me if I am wrong.

for non-GEP applicants, why fret for the lack of interview ? If you are good, it shows on your selection test and get the offer. straight and simple. no need to try to sell yourself

for non-GEP applicants, you got 2 chances : once at DSA - prove yourself at the selection test; and another chance using the PSLE t-score

I beg to differ on one point. In my view, an interview cannot be considered as mere salesmanship. I think the IP schools have a higher purpose in calling DSA applicants for interview. Because the IP Schools also know that good salesmanship does not equate to academic ability. So I am unable to agree that the students attending a DSA Interview (whether GEP or non-GEP) are merely trying to sell themselves. I think the IP Schools will not let them do so, even if the students attending the Interview try to.

So by the time it reaches non-GEP student, no place for them. Maybe those IP schools should let us know for non-GEP student, how many places are allocated to them.

You can't compare the SA1 results of GEPers and non-GEPers. The GEPers sit for a common paper across 9 GEP schools, their papers are different from the mainstream SA1 papers of their school.

There's nothing fair or unfair about the whole system; The GEPers have been on a different program than the mainstream since P4. In short, though I may offend others here, they've learnt beyond textbook knowledge.

Well said, Mathsparks. :hi5: It is not fair to compare the P6 SA1 results of GEPers and non-GEPers as the underlying syllabus that was being tested is different between GEP and mainstream.


Perhaps this is the basis that a few of the IP schools have separate 'treatment' for GEPers and non-GEPers during DSA exercise.

As I have mentioned before, even GEPers get rejected when applying for schools under DSA. Each school has its selection criteria and process. If you are applying to the school, you will have to abide by its application rules and processes.
