Thanks for replying, Publica. So your DS1 is P5 in BTPS? How do you rate the school in term of its curriculum and quality of teachers? Do you think they prepare their students well for the PSLE?

And how are the students in general? I went to the open house 2 weeks ago and most of the game stalls were using the Nerf guns. I will be surprised if those were provided by the school...then there was the Wii set as well... worried my ds will come home everyday asking for such high end toys should he goes to BTPS.

But I must say I am pretty impressed with the students' independence and maturity. They were running the game stalls with no teacher in sight. 1 incidence disturbed me though...we ran out of coupons at the haunted house and I told the students that I will have to go get more coupons but they replied they will accept cash.. :shock:

I like the school environment...bright, airy and clean. So if we really fail to get a place in PHPP, I have no qualms sending my ds1 to BTPS.

Yes, my DS1 is currently P5 at BTPS. BTPS was our back-up school too.

Statistically, BTPS has been performing decently well in PSLE. Most of the subjects with quality passes were above national average, especially the percentage of students who made it to the express stream. As for quality of teachers, as with all schools, there will always be the better teachers who will always be assigned to the top 2 classes. Currently, students are streamed to the top 3 classes, with the rest forming mixed-ability classes at the end of P2. The students are generally well behaved.
The NERF guns at the open house were loans from the students. DS1 was one of them who loaned his gun. However, I am surprised by the incident at the haunted house. DS1 told me that his class offered free games for visitors who ran out of coupons towards the end of the open house.

It's great to know that this grp is active. Being a first timer parent whose child is going pri 1 is such a big deal... Feeling a little lost, since I don't know what to expect.. :oops: Hopefully my ds like it there.

Hope to meet new parents like myself through this site..
