Please help to solve this fraction question. TIA.


Meiling spent an equal amount of money each day.
After 4 days, she had 4/5 of her money left.
After another 10 days, she had $30 left.
How much money did she have at first?

In 4 days, she has 16/20 of her money left. So, she spends 4/20 in 4 days, or 1/20 in a day. She spent her money for a total of 14 days, so


Amount left after 14 days -->20/20 - 14/20 = 6/20. 6/20 = $30

6/20 = 30/100 = $30
$30 x 100/30 = $100

She had $100 at first.

EDIT: She spends $5 a day.

Solved by my son (who is technically me) who also typed this whole message whose grammer might be lousy.
