[Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

With more new projects around popular schools, it's expected that the crowds will be there. MOE has started the 2 ballot slips for S'poreans and will not make exceptions. I hope more classes will be opened though, but don't think that is possible either given the space constraint. My personal view is that if any school allows one or 2 exceptions by allowing more enrollments than original #, then all schools would get into serious trouble in future yrs as parents would oversubscribe to particular schools with precedent on their side to ask for exceptions again.
But with such surge in 1km applicants at most of the schools at BT area, it would be great to see more classes opened in coming yrs: strong sign that demand in area is way above supply.
With all new condos around, and more to come, more classes in each school or opening more schools seem the way out.

rgps is shifting....to heartland
I doubt that will happen. Even space in heartland is limited. -
Had the strangest and weirdest dream last night. Dreamt that nyps had 400+ places for next year’s reg intake. How can it be possible when there is less space next year? Haha… Seems that stress from the balloting is not totally over yet…

I heard that they were thinking of cutting places this year but did not. Next year, there will a construction of sports hall if I’m not wrong. So I don’t think they will increase the number of places.

I think it would be wonderful if Nanyang continues with 390 places...increasing will be out of the question since there are already 13 classes for a co-ed school. Pei Hwa had 13 classes only in 2006 to cater to the Dragon babies. -

Pei Hwa has reduced to 11 classes this year, while Nanyang is still staying at 13 classes...that's considered very good for residents staying around there. Just wondering if Pei Hwa will open more P1 classes in 2012 again for those born in Dragon year. :?
MGS remained at 7 classes for 2006 intake. -

the construction of the sports hall will be at the old premises currently used by Learning Bliss and previously used by the Kindy along 52 Coronation Road. There is another block of classrooms on the hill top for which renovation access could only be via 52 Coronation Road. Hence, they are doing the renovation / rebuild of the classroom block at the hill top while the sports hall is being built. Else it is impossible to renovation the hill top block in the future once the sports hall is completed.
Thus there will be space constrain / reduction when the sports hall construction starts.....some people on this Forum posted that they may end up with double sessions if they do not cut the vacancies
It is hard to cut classes because of the co-ed enrollment of 390 plus being the largest GEP centre of all SAP schools
