Mummy AgnesMM: Another NEWBIE
-
hi Barney,
Charmaine is in Pat's K2 this year and due for P1 registration soon too. I have done some PV at St Anthony's Canossian but we may want to try Poi Ching as well. We are just outside 1km for Poi Ching (ooppps). So not sure what are the chances like too. We applied PV at St Hilda's when Charmaine was 2ish years old but they told us to get back in couple of years time. And when we applied for PV on the supposingly year, they made us wait for good 10months before they announce the outcome - we FAILED! We appealed but got us no where. And we can't get into other school for PV program - SIGH
Anyway, hubby not keen in that school anymore  . Maybe too many top students and popularity lately! Regret that we put all hopes on St Hilda's - I should have applied all over the place :!:
Wrt pets, Charmaine was the one who asked for a puppy. And since she is the only child and always at home with maid, we tot it is a good idea to get her a companion. But it soon beome more of our pet than hers. Anyway, we have two shih tzus now - maybe more to come - ha ha
And for applepie, you may want to take a look at ICR's weblink. Charmaine does her program in Katong Mall

Hi Barney and AgnesMM,
Thanks ! -
AgnesMM:
HI, welcome to KSparents.hi Barney,
I believe a lot of these were kinda influenced by peers in the school. Her pals have had loads of after-school programs. And I got to know that most moms are not working and can ferry the kids all over the place. For us, we can only restrict enrichment program to one weekday evening and over the weekends.
Yes, to a certain extent, kids are influenced by peers in school. So it is important for parents to take note of this when deciding whether to enrol in that popular primary school. My boy, being in a neighbourhood kindergarten, is the only/few kids in his class with multiple enrichment...so no pressure or stress.
I am currently not working and is working hard at getting my driver's license so that i can do the ferrying....and not restrict his and my ds2's future enrichment to weekends only  -
Hi jedamum,
Your boy is definitely fortunate to have you around. On our end, hubby and myself, in most days, are usually tied up till late (plenty of late calls & meetings) and sometimes on the move. But we made a point to ensure that either one of us is in town with Charmaine.
We too hope to spend more time with her. -
AgnesMM,
I got v stressed up for the PV too, early the year register for RS and jus recently they got back and told us no jobs
luckily managed to convince dh to sign up for another school KH, now praying hard that they will accept us. If this fails again, i really need to re-strategise, aiyo getting v stressful..the place that we are staying there isn't any good schools around except for St Stephen, but looking at how the children fare in Chinese...that is v worrying..btw, which yr is Charmaine born in? 2003, 2004?
