All About Primary Schools' Balloting History

:?: I am a newbie to this site. seems interesting and informative. No child but got a dear nephew staying at Hougang Ave 8.
my bro didn't get balloted for Xinmin which is 2 blks away only. Just chose Punggol Pr last week. His friend said he shd choose Yio chu Kang Pr which is nearer home otherwise got problem if child needs extra lessons before/after school. my sis in law working afternoon shift.
anyone knows Punggol Pr or YCH Pri better?
Or Montfort Pr? Heard from tutor that all boys' school, very naughty students, teachers spent too much time punishing/disciplining. Any feedback? -
The manual balloting procedures are very transparent.. the school will call out each name then put it in the ballot box IN FRONT OF EVERYONE (according to someone's info on this site).
If computerised balloting, how to be transparent? Wait those not balloted in cried kelong how?
As for the ballot slip stuck at the bottom, just view it this way, everyone got an equal chance for their slip to be stuck at the bottom.. and the person who pick might just wanna to stick their hand right to the bottom for some bottom fishing.. who knows.. it's still fair.
As far as P1 registration is concerned, I guess the MOE priority is transparency rather than efficiency.JonC:
In Straits Time today, a parent said that manual balloting is silly because some ballot either stuck at the bottom or the side and never get pick. Valid point.
The parent suggest should use computerised balloting which is good suggestion.
Afternote by me, I know how implement this simple computer ballot system.

Good Luck !

With all due respect to technology, I still agree with Limlim that Singaporean parents want to see that 2 ballot slips had actually gone into the bowl. Computers can easily be \"controlled\" whereas manual balloting cannot kelong. If u don't get picked, it's just your luck for being at the bottom of the fish bowl. You can still ask the person to stir the bowl. Many parents requested the admin manager to do that at the school we balloted at. Feel free to speak up.
Manual balloting for me. (PS. with manual balloting, my ds got picked twice at the ballot) -
My sister’s daughter was the second name to be called at the balloting at Bukit View Primary today. What a relief! But balloting is a terrible, terrible experience - the look of disappointment in the parents, grandparents and little children who were unsuccessful - feel so sad for them. Can imagine the despondency they must feel now.
My turn in 2012 - must steel myself for it! -

I feels that it's better not to let your Dd or Ds go for the balloting as what I read somewhere , that her Dd cried when she's being balloted out.My sister's daughter was the second name to be called at the balloting at Bukit View Primary today. like all things s’pore, i believe problem will be solved if we are allowed to buy/sell our P1 places.

Hi,
If P1 places need to buy, it will not solve the problem. It will become rich people places, rich children to compare what they have, -
