Gingerbread Man:
Hi Rejoice! Do you have to go to school in person to put DS on waiting list? I was told by the staff of CHS that I can only put on the waiting list after Aug 30th! Arghh :? :?
Hi gingerbread,
I dun think we stand very good chances w CHS despite being <1km away... they told Bigfoot before that PVs will be first on waiting list... plus we didn't even brave the 2 ballotings like Rejoice... -

Thanks for the info. I will register my child there under phase3.Anyways for those of us parents who didnt get into the schools of our choices in Bishan and GY is the next alternative. I did some research and came across this article on GY. Its really amazing how difficult it is to find feedback on this school.

Why dun you try Canossa Convent Primary instead of GY? It still has abt 20 places for Phase 3. GY has 112 places. In my opinion, your gal will do better at a convent. My fren's girl is there (via P2CS) and has no complaints. -

I'm just curious on your post. Is there any negative feedback about Guangyang Primary? -
eskimo:
No feedback from any parent abt GY... that's the worrying part. Dunno why but after all the phases, they only managed to fill one class. What do you read of a school still having 112 places at Phase 3? I know of Bishan parents who would rather go to the schools in AMK at Phase 2CS than apply for this school. I really dunno why but we can only interpret so much. As for Juan's girl, I am always an advocate for convent education if there's no better choice.Hi Cherrygal,

My friend’s ds didn’t get a place at CHS after balloting at phase 2C more than 10 years ago. They are living opposite CHS and GY is further from their home. The boy had to take school bus to GY instead of walking to CHS. He was offered GEP and went to a co-ed GEP school instead of CHS. Most top students are being offered GEP at P4 and almost all of them would transfer to GEP schools. Schools like GY tend to lose their top students after P3.

I am also very curious about GY. Can any parents with DS or DD in GY let us know their views about the school?

Not all students who qualify GEP wants to go GEP.
Some even go but decide to return.
Most often non GEP schools lose these students to GEP schools.
But the GEP schools also have equality large amount of students themselves who get into GEP and stay on the same school.
And in turn, this GEP schools without IP program will lose these students to the IP schools.
But the morale of the story is schools should let their students get the best out of the education?
