This is a relief to hear!Hi notabox,
I'm a SAHM...I am not really teaching my son, just guiding him. I'm very grateful that Pei Hwa teachers are dedicated, so I don't have to teach much.

Ds1 & ds2 used to attend Jan & Elly too but progress not seen so we switched back to Zoophonics. They love their lesson though. My son attends Jan & Elly...his ex-classmate sends his kids there, also outsource children's academic teaching to tutors.

Thank you all for your advises! :grphug:

PHPPS sch bus offers (a) one way (can choose going to sch or going home) and (b) both ways (going to sch and going home).
If I recall correctly, the bus fare for one way is 80% of the both ways bus fare.
For children in P5 n P6 with supplementary lessons or have CCAs in the weekday afternoons that ends ard 3.30pm, the child can opt for going home via sch bus IF there is a sch bus operator already running along that route. BUT each trip is $2 (correct as at this year).
If the home address is not along the present route the sch bus is taking, I wld suggest the parent to speak to the sch driver n see if he is willing to make a minor detour.

Beside a senior buddy assigns to the kid, your ds will also have a buddy assign by the FT. They will help each other throughout their P1....Nowadays, kids mix around easily. As for my dd, besides her classmates, she also makes friends from other classes introduce by her classmates, some are from her enrichment classes, some are neighbourhood friends, etc......
This is great. Most part of the reason why we chose PH is because we knew quite a few of ds's childcare mates are applying for the school...just so ds will not be too taken aback by the unfamiliar environment and faces. With this buddy system in place, guess our worry was unfounded :D. -
Dear all,
After going through some pages of this thread trying to organise sth out of the current posts so that everyone (existing parents or new parents of PHPPS) can search for discussed topics with more ease, I realise that we might be able to make all our findings for info within this PHPPS thread easier if we all start a new post by typing in a Subject.
I tried out two new posts with a unique subject title that begins with PHPPS xxx. When I need to refer back to the posts, I did a SEARCH (see the 3rd line below KiasuParents.com). Then I input Search for Keywords : PHPPS xxx, click on search for all terms, select FORUM: Pri Schs- Parents’ Networking Groups and click on Display results: POSTS.
What do you think of this? Can do? -

30 Aug is a Monday. I thought public swimming pools are closed on Monday? -
Next week 31 Aug is Teachers’ Day celebration…rather surprising since my gal in kindy doesn’t have early dismissal all these 3 years.

Fo SA2 EL oral, the pupils are to retell a story they learnt during class. There were more than one story covered as part of the Big Book EL curriculum. The FT chose one story and the whole class would retell the same story during the actual oral test.
Last Monday, the FT wrote the essential outline of a story learnt in class during term 2. The pupils were told to copy down whatever she wrote on the white board and to practise and she would test them the next Monday.
Last week was a short sch week, Thur n Fri were designated PSLE oral days. So the pupils supposedly had many days to prepare for ytd oral practice.
Surprisingly, my P3 boy told me less than half the class were prepared for ytd practice. And for those who did, they only retell exactly whatever the teacher asked them to copy even though the teacher did mention the pupils could change some words or add in some words.
This incident makes me question the FT ability to manage the class. So many pupils did not bother to follow her instructions. Hiaz. -

My son told me there were a handful of classmates who did not get their homework done. The teacher called out their names and made them stand up. I'm shocked that kids at this level (P4) can ignore their basic responsibility :!: ...furthermore, it's not like there was so much homework.
