              tjm:
Haven't tried any phonics classes, can't comment.

Want to bring up an event..

My son brought home this flier from school.

It's about the Mid Autumn Festival.
The school is celebrating it on 17 Sept, from 6pm to 8.30pm. It is a Friday.

It is open to guests as well, and it's like a carnival where you can buy games stall coupons. $1 for 4 coupons I think.
And you can buy food coupons too. Some of the food stalls include Bubble tea, nachos, hotdogs...

My family is planning to go, bring the younger boy too, since most probably he'll be studying there in future. Maybe even ask grandparents along...

If you purchase a kit, then it also includes NEWater, a lantern with candles etc etc... For guests, it costs $3 (inclusive of food and games coupons). For students, $2.

Asking champion etc, who are going?

For the students to be in P1 next year, if you want your child to have some fun in their future school and familiarise themselves, it's a good opportunity to come too!
              Hi tjm,
My girl will be entering p1 in this sch next year. glad to hear that they have this event!
Must i bring any document to 'show' she will be the future student or i just walk in and buy the ticket from the school?
$2 for student, for current student or 'future' student? :stupid:

                  Hi All,
If I am not mistaken, $2 is for the current student so for \"future\" students, you still have to pay $3 as a guest 😉 . I will be going with my child who is in P2 this year and also bring along my 2nd gal who might be the \"future student\" in 2012 😄

although you can just buy food and games coupons… no need to buy the kit if you have your own lanterns…

i think no need to bring documents?

i paid up tdy thru my son and i bought the $3 one for my younger son as a guest…

oh yes, what are SEED and PAL? would you mind to share?

Forgot what SEED stands for, and if I explain wrongly, please correct me, those who know…

When I went to the school for PTM (parent teacher mtg), there was an exhibition with many photos, projects by students, write ups of excursions etc… The teachers there said those had to do with the SEED programme. So I assume it is some kind of learn through field trips and projects kind of thing?

For PAL, it stands for Programme for Active Learning. Several schools in Singapore are on this pilot programme. Each term, the students get to do some enrichment within curriculum time. One week 2-3 hours. The school has the flexibility to decide what to offer.

For this reason, the school starts at 8am and ends at 3pm on Tues and Thurs.

I know Fairfield Methodist has PAL too and my friend’s P2 dd did handbells for one term. The girls liked them but the boys looked very bored.

Just so happen P1 in CPS this year had aesthetic arts for 1st term (my son loved the painting and craft - he gets very very dirty and messy on those days), Outdoor Education (something like jungle survival, obstacle course etc - my son also loved it), and then this term (term 3), they did rock climbing/ bouldering, with a field trip to Bt Timah Nature Reserve (they had a guided tour then split into groups to do orienteering).

My son happen to love all these type of activities, so he is very very lucky. If the school chose something else, he might not like it. So I am not sure if the girls like the bouldering and so on or not. 🙂

Champion, you can share what P2 did?
