Travel: Korea - General

Hi insider,
You really did a very fantastic work in writing up your Korea trip experience. It was the best custom make to us, even tripadvisor couldn’t match it. It gave me clear idea how much to bring for our coming trip. At first, I was still wondering and asking friends that been to Korea. They told me what had they brought but didn’t say in details like yours. Yours gave me a better estimation. It also gave me idea what to buy in Korea.
My family love cuttlefish, may I know where did you get them and how much it cost.
Skincare product is cheap in Korea. However, I was lost in how to choose the suitable one for myself and 2 DD. Guess what? When I told them skincare product is cheap and suitable for teenage. They both shown me a face like "WHAT!!!" I have been trying to convince them to use some skincare product, they had refused. They use only face foam or scrub to clean their face, that all. How to convince them to try ?
I’m in 40+, I have been using the same brand for past 20+ years. I not adventures enough to try new product as I’m afraid of outbreak. But now as I’m not working I’m thinking of changing to a cheaper brand. I can’t use milk lotion, serum all the rich product on my face. As all these will cause skin outbreak. I’m using gentle face foam wash and cleasing milk to wash my face, as if too strong cleanser will cause dry and tight skin. Thus, cannot too dry nor oily. I know, I need something water base that is mositure for the skin. Thus, can you kindly recommend any brand or product? Many Thanks in advance. -
Good time to go Korea now as the WON is dropping a lot (from previous KRW 700+ to KRW800+).
Beauty care products (Face Shop etc) are many there (common to see one street has 3-4 similar such shops), and they are firecely competitive. Bought a lot of face masks (10 pieces (1pack there) for 10,000won (here the same face masks in Face Shop cost $3 per piece), and with other free gifts).
Must visit the Dongdaemun Market there. Also very firecely competitive (esp for the man clothings), though sales staff not very friendly. If you are going at night (after 930pm), can visit their wholesale center there. But I realised that these wholesale centers will only sell if you are buying 2 pieces and above.
Many Chinese there, highly likely you can find a Chinese staff in most restaurant and other shops (beauty care stores like Face Shop etc) -
Hi
Has anybody tried Apple Holidays 7D Korea Winter Wonderland? Thinking of going this Dec.
Any feedback?
thanks -

Have not tried Apple Holidays and absolutely nothing against them, but in general, for trips above $1K per person, I would say go for the bigger boys in the market, more reliable, in my opinion.Hi

Anyone planning for a trip to Korea this year end holiday ?
I am thinking of planning for a trip with 2A3C... DIY... Not following tour. Wonder if it is too late to book accommodation, air tickets, etc.
Or... should i just forget it and follow tour ? -
Hi,
My family of 5 is planning a DIY holiday to Seoul this Nov/Dec.
We appreciate your advice/recommendations on 2-bedrm serviced apartments or hotels around LotteWorld & also a nearby ski resort for 3D2N stay. We are also keen to try out the Korean style motel too.
Has anyone tried Hans Apartments or Ibis hotel?
On the ski package, how do we get a good package - is it better to book tog with the accommodation?
Thank you so much! -
We have booked for 8 days to Korea + Jeju, leaving 1st week of Dec.
Is woollen long john compulsory ? Find them very pokey. -
Me too. Thought of going with my children this Dec.
Have not booked. Hope not too late…
Been there before and i thought it would be good to follow tour especially with children since the tour bus will bring us right to the spot of attraction and hence do not need to carry luggages around. Its a problem trying to understanding korea words although most of the roads now have English writings after the Olympic games.
I remember I extended a few days with my friends on our own in Seoul during the last visit and for our meals, we could only go to food courts with pictures as we couldn’t make out what it said in the menu. Unlike in Japan, they have some chinese characters so you could guess. -
