I think I wld get a small basket for my boy to carry the bathing items. No one leave their cup/toothpaste/toothbrush/bathing items in the toilet.
any bag also can. plastic bag too. I used to let them bring a suction hook when they went camping, in case no hook. Those that can hold very heavy stuff from it. Easy to remove/apply on wall.

Do the kids bring their laptops to boarding school? I thought I heard the teacher say it’s not necessary. Anyway, my boy doesn’t own a laptop, and if he does bring, it has to be mine. And I was thinking it’s not so necessary since they don’t have WIFI access except in the hall & computer room.

The boarding master saud the computer room is not heavily used becos most students bring them own laptop. Btw, there is a printer (payable printing) in the room. The room has opening hours, maybe not so convenient?

My son was wondering if the printer had colour! Bc he says the printer at Bytes (5cents per sheet) is b/w only. Aiyoh, but I sure don't want to let them bring a printer. Like so \"mah-farn\".

I did not check if it is colour or b/w. Agreed so troublesome to bring printer along, I already suggesting not to bring laptop.

Btw, some teachers might drop by during the study prep hours.

There is also an adventure camp at a MOE camp site towards the end of boarding. More details to be released at a later date.

The 1st day, parents can send their children up to the rooms and get to know the roommate too 😄

Btw, the study plastic chair is kind of uncomfortable. We will get a seat cushion.

Should be one of the friends they requested lah. I sorta know his friends. He studies with some of them at the library on Saturdays, and has come to our house before. Should be ok. So far got no \"pai-kia\" I think.

Hi! I've been reading all your posts via my mom's print-outs till I finally decided to create an account of my own.

                    1. I want to apologise for intruding into the 'parent's only' space.
                    2. I'm willing to share information like this year's NJC interview questions, blah blah. If I'm online.
                    3. NJC= My dream school.

Thanks for the boarding school pictures. I have, now, a rough idea of what my life in NJC would be like if I get in. :celebrate:

I don't think there was any fixed question for the interview. Maybe just the first question. I was actually interviewed by the Head of Discipline. 🙂 It was a panel interview. 3 teachers to a applicant. The first question was, \"Tell me 3 adjectives that describe yourself.\"

                    Rights, Bye!

My DS is in P6. He is waiting for the Interview results, hoping to get a CO from NJC. We are still doing our researh and talking to friends. Here are some of the feedback I have received and would like the views of other parents:

                        1) NJC started offering Sec 1 from 2009. They do not have a lot of experience with Sec 1 students unlike with the JC students. This is unlike say RI or HCI that has decades of experience. If any parent has children who joined Sec 1 in 2009, can you share the experience of your child?

                        2) In NJC, it is fully integrated. The Sec 1 students mingle with the JC students. I know it has been used as a selling point. But is it a good thing? Younger students are more innocent entering into teenage years. The JC students are older and more mature, they have BGR issues, etc.

                        3) The ratio of girl to boys I heard is 2:1. Is this an issue for the boys compared to spending 4 years in an all boys school? Another issue would be the lack of CCAs for boys. There are no uniformed groups at all. This could also be due to the fact that NJC just started taking in Sec 1 students and they may need to increase the CCA offerings.

                        4) Are there enough teachers in NJC. I know it may not be a fair comparison to compare say with RI or HCI. But RI has about 480 academic staff. HCI has 380, and NJC probably has about 180. How does that affect the student ratios, subject offerings and quality of education.

                        5) For the facilities, I am aware that they are building more classrooms for the students, and a library for the Junior High students. Does anyone know when this will be completed? I know some students are studying in containers. Does this affect them adversely?

                        Thanks
