These schools will probably not be full IP schools; meaning they will offer both the O level and A level tracks. I suppose depending on how ready the schools are to implement the programme to existing students, the top students from the existing Sec 1 & 2 may have the opportunity to partake in IP dependent on their EYA results.

That would make sense. It has to be done progressively and will also take into consideration the current student population.

I wonder about the COP...will there be any changes becos some schools are alreay above 250 as it is.

I'm sure the COP for these schools will go up because an IP school is more appealing than a secondary school. However it would still depend on how attractive their IP offering is. Not just which JC they're linking up with, but also what will they be offering within their IP syllabus and programme. What will set them apart from other schools? All this will be very exciting to watch.[/quote]my take is that the COP of those schools will drop.

why ? because MOE cuts 10% of PSLE cohort to score 250 and above, hence in any year there will be more than 4000 with 250 and above, and with 18 IP schools = the intake will be much much more than 4000.....hence those below 250 will also get in.....

so it is back to supply and demand at the 18 schools, and I guess ksp will start a new thread to track and rank the COP of the 18 schools. I guess the top 4 will remain largely unmoved.....those just below the top 4 may see some changes as some students may now choose another IP school nearer home instead

\"The list of new schools to offer the IP, a programme which to date has either the A levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB) will be announced by the Ministry of Education tomorrow.\"

Really? where do you get this news? If so then this year P6 pupils will be considered? I guess , with so manyIP programme now, probably all T-score 250 and above will be considered ...but first of all they must meet the COP of that school first. :dancing:

I understand what you're saying about demand and supply etc, as a whole. But looking at individual schools, these schools should enjoy a higher COP with their IP status as compared to their before IP status. Why? Because there is a higher demand for the school and if number of vacances is unchanged, the COP should increase.

Schools with no IP status will see a fall in their COP because the better students will now all have opted for the IP schools.

Say for eg. MGS gets IP status and SCGS doesn't. If I score 255 and I qualify for both schools, I would choose MGS over SCGS (assuming I do not have loyalty to either.) Even if I am an ex-SCGS girl, I'd seriously consider MGS because there's the IP advantage.

Some may not fancy IP. Just as today you can see T-Scores which qualify for top IP-School appear in non-IP schools, such as CHS, VS, Nan Hua. Some just want to take a reasonably good school near to their home. It is still a personal choice though it could be printed to highlight to students of the avability in the S1 form, like the qualify for HMt and 3d lang, it is still up to the students' choice.
