Amethyst:
Hi Amethyst
Has seen Amazing Star at CCK Blk511 (if I didn't remember wrongly). Also has no a/c. I heard that they don't go at individual pace. The whole class will be doing the same thing/worksheets. I was told by principal that in Montessori teaching, workgroups are not at indvd pace any more, has to be in a grp. Is it really so in montessori culture? The principal is the only one trained in montessori method and she in turn trains her teacher to teach the kids the phonics and maths the montessori way.
my gal is at amazing star CCK blk 511. There are another 2 teachers in the centre who are trained in montessori. one is in playgroup, another one is in nursery. sad to say, the principal has just transferred to another new branch at sengkang. the new principal who will be joining is not montessori trained... -
buds:
Hi budsNiwae, the journey has bn
suweeet and i am reaping the joys of my years of pre-school investment
at home for my girls. They love learning.. love school.. and are motivated
learners... plus usually independent. Montessorian children should not only
love learning the present but yearn to acquire knowledge for life. :celebrate:
wanted to find out, how do we nurture a kid to be a motivated learners? and love learning? When the kids keep asking 'why', does it mean that they love learning?
also, in a montessori based school, is it important that the principal needs to be montessori trained? or only the experience of the teachers is the most important? I was really puzzled when I found out that the new principal of my kids' school is not montessori trained and yet she is hired to manage a montessori school. -
Hi,

Hello,
I’m a 28 year old mom to 2 girls, 2 years and 1 year old. my husband and i are advocates of positive parenting (when our patience doesn’t leave us in the lurch, still working on improving that).
my husband is a private music teacher. he teaches mostly children as young as 4 to teenagehood. he doesn’t believe in music exams. he encourages creativity and instills confidence in his students by organizing performances at family functions.
i’m a stay home mother by choice but i may have to consider starting a job soon, not by choice.
Husband and I love the montessori method of independent learning for our children. We are still quite new to the method and its a learning process for us as well. We’ve transformed our house to be a mini montessori inspired home. There is ample open floor space with low shelves which encourage our girls’ exploration. Our beds and our girls’ mattresses are placed on the floor so they can get into and out of bed by themselves. There’s a cupboard with mirrored exterior right in front of our sleeping area so our girls may explore who they are (and play mime sometimes). We have child sized table and chairs which are light enough to be easily moved by our 2 year old. Bookshelves are low, allowing accessibility to our girls while we can always maintain visibility at all times. Hooks are hung at child height so they can hang and remove their own jacket and bag. They have their own mini shoerack as well. We have stools near the sinks and light switches so our 2 year old can turn on the lights, wash up on her own and turn off the lights on the way out. We’re working on providing her her own little space in the fridge so she can get whatever healthy snacks she wants when she wants it. But first we gotta wait for her to gain the arm power to open the fridge door.
Any other parents on the same page as us ? Would love to make friends with other montessori inspired parents.
We may have to move to tampines, from siglap, and we’re currently recceing for a good Montessori school that encourages positivity (no screaming yelling teachers) in the tampines/simei/pasir ris area. Plenty of Montessori schools adopt dr Maria’s method but we’re finding it hard to find one that encourages independence (no babying the children) in a positive way.
Any recommendations anyone? -

Not all Montesorri CC is the same. Must go to the school to view and talk to the principal and learn more about the school programmes.
My nephew initally attend Montesorri at Holland, after that my sister switched him to another Montesorri. Later on find the Montesorri is not good when my nephew never shows any improvement, switch him back to Holland branch again. -

I cannot comment on MMI@Pinnacle as I never been there and don't intend to relocate there due to distance and in/out CBD/ERP..
I can only say MMI@Raffles was good in my opinion, as i've seen my daughter's improvement.. but I feel teachers are very important.. Go down to the centre, take a look at how the teachers communicate with the children.. If u are comfortable, then follow your heart..
