as for my gal, she was given the SA1 t-score by the school and not her prelim
(i also dun know why the prelim t-score was not given , prob their teachers were too busy for the preparation of the psle)
her school's T-score was 25X
and her actual psle T-score was 26X, 2009 ( abt 15 more points)

based on history, for most schools, pupils can expect an addition of 12 to 20 points for the actual PSLE T-score,
but as for last year, i knew quite a number of them scored below expectations for the psle (as much as 10 to 15 points down instead)

Impressive results you've gotten for prelims. What is important is to keep the momentum going and 270+ will not be a problem for u to achieve.

Based on my experience with my kids, your estimated PSLE T-score will be 255 to 265. Must work harder for mother tongue and science to get A*, especially mother tongue (unless your MT is not Chinese). Your T-score will be dragged down by mother tongue.

On the average, a kid with all A* (not those super outstanding type) will get about 270 to 273.

On the average, a kid with all A* (not those super outstanding type) will get about 270 to 273.

it also depends whether is low A* or high A* right ?

I think the t-score increase between low A* and high A* could be sizeable due to the number of SD involved ?

There usually is a big jump. the number of people scoring a low A* is usually much higher than the no.who get a high A*. Then again, it boils down to the difficulty of the paper.


BTW, my MT is not chinese. I take NTIL.

I think the t-score increase between low A* and high A* could be sizeable due to the number of SD involved ?[/quote]From my personal judgement, my kids scores would likely have been near or equal 100 for math, above 95 for science and between 91 and 95 for Chinese and English. Their T-scores range from 270 to 273.

Good that you are not taking Chinese. You will not be \"KILLED\" by the exceptionally high mean score.

You are right that the T-score depends on the degree of difficulty of the paper. However, if a certain paper is difficult, \"they\" will moderate the marks - like what happen last year for math paper. The end result is that the normal A* students would still be getting similar kind of T-scores as other years, maybe a little lower. However, for those who got high A* for the difficult paper, their T-score will be way above 280 (unlike a normal year where the all the papers are normal, the top T-score would be usually less than 285).
