          Hi mymom,

Thank you for sharing this information. As my child (P5) is exempted from mother tongue (chinese) as well, now knowing that good schools will still consider the DSA application, it gives us assurance. Thank you.

            Hi All,

my son received CO from DHS. On the letter, there is statement "eligible to attend the express course", what does this mean? Does it mean my son need to achieve certain score for the PSLE? especially like high Chinese.

            Thanks

Express Course eligibility based on MOE is tscore of 200

Please ask yourself this other question : if the CO from DSA still must meet the COP of the school at S1 posting, then what is the point of DSA ?

Have all schools' DSA come to and end, ie given out all offers? Anyone know SST ended?

Altho' some schools do set a certain criteria that is above 200. eg. friend's son was set 220 for his dsa under sports. And another was set 225 for dsa under performing arts cca (and this boy actually didn't make it, so couldn't make good his dsa in the end and went to another school).

In the first place if the child is really that weak, is it wise for the child to be in the midst of all the rest who are around 250 and above ?

may be some are around 23x, 24x, but way below it will means the child will really be at the bottom of the cohort while spending lots of time away doing his/her sports or arts cca will really demoralise the kids in the academic performance. Even back in the primary school, the kids are streamed into different classes.

DSA via sports and arts are good only for those who can buck up in their studies after the sports and arts are done. Else it will be a long struggle. Met someone who got DSAed via sports, tscore was 23x, was lamenting it was hard to catch up in studies because the pace of studies caters to those (majority of the cohort) above 26x. That school does not set any min tscore for the DSA successful candidates

I am quoting those bc in most other schools - generally the IP ones, such requirements are not stated. Instead, they only require a score of 200 if they have given a DSA confirmed offer.

The schools i mentioned above that set min score of 220-225-230 are popular non-IP schools like SJI, CHS. I think those who got in under non-sports/arts domains have this min score set, which is no different from the scores set for affiliated boys.
