Hi, does anyone of a good student care in Serangoon, preferably near yangzheng? Thanks

not sure if it's good, but there's a student care centre at void deck of the block just across the road from YZPS, just 1 min's walk from the main gate.

then at the church besides that block, i heard also got student care inside.

Yes, I have seen a banner at the church advertising student care. Name of the church is Bethesda Bukit Arang Church 😄

Thanks atrecord, for the info :celebrate:

Please do update from time to time if you can. Its one of the schs near ours and ILs' place.
Sure... but I do not get really v involved with the sch all the time, so can only do my best.

YZPS does try to involve parents, IMO. about 1.5 ago, they had a sports day, where the whole school did some form of sports on that day. For the P1 kids, it was a 'sports fiesta', where they would do some games that involve running and coordination. all students would be grouped into teams, their so-called 'house', and take turns to take part.

Parents were invited to the occasion, and I went to look see too. Too bad my girl's team the anchor girl who ran the last leg, broke the rule and their team was disqualified although they finished first.

They also had a parent meet teacher session back in May, where the English and Chinese teachers would discuss with the parents the progress of the kids.

Talking about YZPS, the school uniform includes black shoes and white socks that both have got the school name on them, so you can’t choose other brands/products else they would stand out.

The black shoes are from FILA. To me, I was quite concerned initially that parents would be forced to purchase FILA shoes for the kids, as it’s branded. But I think the price is not extremely high since they order in bulk.

Another thing: just read a letter from the school informing us that the last 2 weeks of term 4, there will be changes to the school hours. For P1-2, instead of afternoon classes, they will have morning classes. This is a llogistical nightmare…

The YangZheng school hours (on pg 4) for Wed starts at 7.20am, while the rest of the week (i.e. Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri) starts at 11.40am.

Wonder why does the school plan such odd school hours for such small children upsetting their body clock system in the middle of the week!? How to expect the children to wake up at e.g. 6am on Wed, while they can sleep thru till e.g. 8am on Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri? Do we parents expect them to also wake up at 6am on the other school days where school only starts at 11.40am? Logistically, it’s nightmare also.

Any idea why the school cannot also plan to start at 11.40am on Wed? Hope they can at least explore to have morning session on Friday instead of Wednesday.

I am confident that the school has high EQ and compassion to minimise disruption to our little ones as well as the parents and care-givers.
