      citygirl:

I am moving to within 1km of a popular school that I am targeting to enrol my ds in. The school is likely to require balloting within 1km.

However, it is my parents who look after my kids in the day, and they live 1-2km from the school.

Obviously when I am registering, I would prefer to use my own address as it is within 1km, and I legitimately live there. But as I prefer to go for school transportation, will the school question why my ds is sent to the 1-2km address, and will they accept my explanation?
After you have successfully and legally registered your son in the school, the school will not question you on transportation. After all, you are staying within 1km of the school. I had friends who move once their child is in the school.

        With regards on P1 registration

we are staying outside 2km of a desirable primary school.

But we intend to rent our current home and stay with my parents who are within 1km of our desirable school.

        1. So if we change our IC address to my parent address, we will be within 1km right? If I just declare my parent is the caregiver then I will be under >2km right? Is it possible to do so to be within 1km?

        2. Is there any criteria if I stay with my parent and reg under my parent’s address? any cap as to how long I need to stay with my parent’s home?

Not too sure how to go abt reg my child near my parent home and still retaining our flat.

        Any kind soul, pls advise

If you change your NRIC to reflect your parents' address, you will be in the less than 1 km category.

Since you are staying with your parents, there is no need to register your chil via the caregiver route.

However, you must genuinely be staying with your parents.

No cap, but you do need to satisfy certain criteria in order to change the address in your NRIC to that of your parents'.

2 ways to change address @ NPP:
              1. Change on of your bank, credit card or mobile phone bills to your parent's place first. Bring that bill along (must be recent one) with your IC for the change of address. Can be done immediately.

              2. Go down to NPP for change of address request. They will mail a letter to your parent's address 2 weeks later. Once you receive the letter, you can bring it down again with your IC for change of address. Process is longer and more troublesome with 2 trips.

HDB regulation states that you must stay in your flat isn't it ? I doubt you can just change your IC address to your parents' address unless you are selling your HDB flat, not renting it away

I've checked with HDB before. If you are not allowed to rent out (unless you are eligible based on their regulations), you can still move out of your unit to live with your parents/ILs and retain ownership of your flat.

like that can change the IC address ? thought your IC address should show HDB address if you own one ?

If she has met the Minimum Occupation Period (MOP), no issue at all.

If she has not met the MOP, then the duration of her stay with her parents will not be counted towards her fulfilment of the MOP. Hence, if she plans to sell her HDB flat, she needs to move back to her own flat, and stays there until she meets the MOP.

therefore, before meeting MOP cannot change the IC address la ?
