[Toa Payoh] Primary Schools

Principals can be cold hearted and rather snobbish in some schools. I've heard of an incident where the principal and her 2 vice-p were sitting together in the school canteen for lunch. A girl was carrying a bowl of noodle soup and someone knocked into her, causing the hot bowl of soup to splutter all over her. The principal didnt 'see' anything  . One of the vice-principal brought the girl to the office to apply cream and change her uniform.
Ya, so hard to find principals like that, and usually the better schools', I find sometimes the Ps can be a bit more 'take it or leave it' kind.janet_lee88:
Hi Jasmineong,
I feel that the principal is very sweet  to listen to parents' requests, unlike the principal at my son's school. -

That's bad, it seems as though they are principals more for position and
prestige, not for the kids..so I guess if we can find a good P, it is really a blessing!

Principals are head of the school and students greet them. I've personally seen a principal who does not acknowledge when students greet her. It's unacceptable to me. :x :x She turned her head away.
BTW, when I was in school, my principal only greeted those students who are rich and have parents who are high fliers. -
Am glad my P was not like that, just distant and not very caring…now
the Ps also change every 5-7 years so they also just try to get ahead and make a name for themselves, then they go on…but I must say that once
in a while, you come across a P that really cares and goes the extra mile…but very few of such esp nowadays I find.
But I feel for me for the teachers are more important…if they are dedicated, even if the P is uncaring, it is not so bad because the
teachers have direct contact with the kids -

I can only hope the principal's lack of concern/care does not pass on to the teachers. But when a principal has a motherly touch, she will 'reinforce' that in her teachers, hopefully.Am glad my P was not like that, just distant and not very caring...now

Hi jasmineong,
I feel that principals must be motherly, esp women principals. -
Hi all
Need some advise here. I am staying at Toa Payoh and would like my kids to join Pei Chun. My wife is not supportive of my suggestion. The other plan is to let my kids join St. Anthony Primary (bukit batok) as I graduated from that school previously. I might have to buy a condo near there so that my kids does not have to travel far to school.
Any advice ? -

A lot of factors to take into consideration, e.g. why is your wife not supportive of registering your child in Pei Chun, how receptive you are to buying a new property elsewhere, which phase will you be if you were to register with Pei Chun, why not consider other schools in Toa Payoh, etc.
The information you provided above is insufficient for any third party to advise. -

My wife read somewhere that Pei Chun is no good after the principal changed. Decision due to emotion and not logic. I am carrying my research now to convince her.
We are open to buying a new property somewhere near Bukit Batok (St Anthony) but travelling time for me to go to work at Lorong Chuan will be a deterring factor.
My boy is born in year 2006. Distance is within 1km of Pei Chun. Closing date for PV is Nov 2010. I have another girl born 2008, so cannot consider Maris Stella.
I prefer Pei Chun because my brother and sister graduated from that school previously.
