My prev maids disappeared into the room AUTOMATICALLY :x at 10pm. The lights are still turned on at 11+. But they do not wake up automatically at 6am. I had to remind them bedtime is 1030pm latest and they must be awake at 6am FRESH.

I just got my first maid last week, seem like she is ok. Normally when they will show the "true colour" if they have?

Mine started to show true colours nearing the time they finish their debt...ie after 5-6 months. 'Pattern' will show, so don't be too quick to get them clothes when they are new.

              Hi kanyaramesh,

My maids started to play punk and TRUE colours really appear compared to that ‘innocent and pitiful’ appearance when they first arrived. Can die.
I used to give phone cards to my maids to call home during Hari Raya or Christmas to make them happy but when they show true colours, how much kindness you have given them is of NO use :x

I am still sending my elder to before school care centre, my newborn is with me and the maid during the maternity leave. I will send them to the nanny house when i go back to work, so i have to pay the salary to the maid and also fees to the nanny. I am still thinking whether to let the maid to look after my elder or not, so that i can save the before school care fees. Now, i really need to think twice and wait for 5-6 months first. Thanks for your advise.

i was really indulgent with my maid. when i found out that she was only 18 years old i felt bad and treated her well. she had her own room with attached bath. Tv with cable connection and wardrobe.

however after 6 months of not even being able to make a cup of milo i began losing patience. Can you believe that i had to get up to make breakfast for my son and hubby, bathe and get my son ready and then make my own breakfst for 6 months! I live next door to my ILs and my MIL cooks and they look after my son after he comes home from kindergarten. My maid only had housework to do. Despite that she gave me hell.

If your older one is in primary school, then you can save on the nanny fee and leave him/her at home with the maid. However, your maid cannot handle 2 kids at home (esp a bb)...maybe you want to consider sending the bb to the nanny when your maternity leave is over. Your maid can cook lunch/bathe your elder child before going to school, then after your child has gone to school, maid can get housework done and cook dinner as well.

i used to hv maids that show colours ard 6 mths when their loans finishing soon, also came across 2 whereby work 1 wk says want to go bk agt, in the end the agts ask them work 2 mths with me then can transfer... nw this maid cm 2 days say not used to spore, want to go bk hm, agt told her hwo to go bk when her loan hasn't settled. so i guess in another few mths time when her debt going to clear, she may request to go bk hm liao... then i got to take in new maid again. hopefully she will change her mind and not go bk hm... when they request for transfer, we had to bear all the levy and wasted the insurance $ that we have paid... dun knw why we \"employer\" should bear all these costs when is the maid that dun want to work... i've been wasting all these costs for 3 times liao over this 2 yrs..

Most tuesday mornings, I will bring my 2yr old to Jacob Ballas. Every time I am there, I can’t help noticing that there are many phippino maids on their own with expat kids. Maid is always talking on phone/smsing while expat kids playing (either at the sandpit playground or at the treehouse). Was at the treehouse today for at least twenty min and saw two maids busy talking, smsing on HP thru’out while the third trying to talk on earpiece but couldn’t as kids were naughty. Also saw one hitting the expat child who wailed loudly, and when the kids went off from the treehouse area, she continued talking for a few mins, then realised they were gone and then shouted at them to come back…They do not bother to chk if the kids were ok at the slides or the steps…Then when I was abt to come out from my estate, had to honk at a maid with a kid crossing the road in front of me as she was so busy smsing that she did not see my car… I wonder how their employers feel if they see how that maid treated her kids…& they are usually the ones who like to criticise we local employers just look at a recent posting in Tamarind’s blog…it was so rude…
