Hi, I too am gaining lots of info. about MCS from this thread! Thanks ladies!
Keep up the good work! Hoping to register my second daughter for P1 new year! At the moment living in Ang Mo Kio. Looks like have to try for 2C. No affliation of any sort. Any chance of getting in?
Hi Gin,
:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:
Generally, based on past history of the last five years, if you are trying for Phase 2C, you stand a good chance of getting in.
However, should you decide to only try in Phase 2C (supp), you will need to ballot with other parents who have failed at the ballot boxes at St. Nic and CHIJ (Toa Payoh). Chances of getting in becomes slim.
Good luck. -

Ya, definitely enough time for the gals to enjoy themselves. Good luck looking for a swimming coach for ur DD. You got 2 years. By then, your DD will be in the advanced class :rahrah:
Thanks tinkerbelle.Tinkerbelle:
Hi acbj,
No worries....we are all the same here....kiasu.
Swimming in MCS is conducted during school hours before recess.
4 periods of PE are allocated for the swimming lessons. If I recall correctly, lessons are from about 9.30AM to 11.30Am. This includes transportation to and from school, changing, warm-ups, swimming and showering & changing after the lesson.
The gals will have their recess on the bus on the way back to school. Lessons will resume once they return to school.
Great to know that it's 4 periods and they have ample time to get ready and get back.

Hi all,
Since your DDs can only participate in swimming in P3, thought I would share with you some of the activities your P1 DDs can look forward to next year (provided there are no changes).
Currently, for PE, the P1 gets an opportunity to participate in netball, sports Chanbarra, fencing, tennis and gymnastics. The activities are rotated around each term for different classes. This programme (PE3, known as PE cube) is only implemented this year. My DD absolutely loves Wednesday when they have PE3.
I think it's an excellent programme. The gals are exposed to various games and sports that they normally do not get to try out. :dancing: -
Wow!! Thanks tinkerbell for all these info...i bet all our gals are going to absolutely enjoy their PE lessons!! Sounds like great fun! Fencing and stuff..i wish i was the one going to P1 next year!!! :boogie:

4 periods of PE???? Every year it's a different kind of activity for PE right? Does all the activity have 4 periods of PE as well??? Love to have PE lessons during my time.

Hello Gin,
Going by the previous yrs trend, at phase 2C you should stand a pretty good chance even if you stay above 2km.
Most of us are staying more than 2km fr the sch too.

Same like funkymonkey, wish I was the one going to P1 next year. -
I am amazed at the variety of sports available to them!!!
Its unheard of during my pri days.....
I remember we run, we jump, we climb, play with balls; basketball, footballs, volleyballs, net balls.......
During my time, swimming isn't compulsary.......
Suddenly, I feel really old.
I too wished I am the one going to school, that's for PE lessons only.

hi Mommies,
1. Read that it s competitive to do speech n drama. May i know what does
this mean??
2. Stil prefer the traditional way of getting the school books and uniforms.
Do we still go to the shop in TPY? Which blk??
3. Is it a must to wear the socks with MCS logo?
4. Assembly is not required daily? Only 3 times a week? So the girls go to
their classrooms directly for the other 2 days?
5. I thought P5 is in the morning session so how are they able to assist
our girls during recess time? May i know the timing and normal duration
for the recess?
6. Do we need to pay for the swimming lessons?
Sorry that I have so many questions⦠hope Tinkerbelle or JonC can help. Thanks!! -

Hi funkymonkey, cantbearit2 & acbj,
Ya, how I wish I can attend their PE lessons too. Our DDs are very fortunate to have opportunities to be exposed to such cool sports. Back in my days, fencing was an elite sport.
Imagine my surprise when my DD told me about sports chanbara, I was like :? Maybe I'm ignorant because I've never heard of this sports before. DD told me it is Japanese fencing that the samurai practiced. I'm fine with it as long as she doesn't start doing this :pokeeye: at home.
