Although I stay within 1km from HIPS, I regret not coming into this forum earlier. Cause I thought volunteering does take into account distance. So sad. Should have volunteered.

Yes u can do that. Just register in St Gabriel under 2A first. On the last day of 2C, go to HIPS and ask how many applicants are within 1km and how many places there are. If no need to ballot or u think the chances are very good and u want to risk balloting, then quickly withdraw from St Gabriel and register at HIPS. Most parents doing this method has one parent stationed in each school on the actual day. Make sure u have all the proper documents for withdrawing/applying etc.

For grassroots, not so sure if still in time now as ur registration is next year. U can call up to enquire. All the best..

I think the grassroot that my friend's hubby joined is not helping out opposition but PAP. But I suppose in opposition ward, the PAP wants more involvement on grassroot level??? Do check if it is still possible as this route from what I read in another thread does have its requirements in terms of time frame and it is also time consuming as well. But my friend's hubby seems to have gotten the member level shortly after he joined.

My girl (2005) is going to Maha Bodhi. My alma mater and my 2 older kids are there. We did think of HIPS as it's 5 mins walk from our place. We also thought about Rosyth (1-2km) or TNS (as we've a prop within 1km).... but decided to let her go to Maha Bodhi under phase 1 for peace of mind.

Good luck and do try the possible routes now. 1km under Phase 2B seems like a sure win from historical records. For 1km under phase 2C sure must ballot from historical records.

same. my gal was born in 2005 & i plan to register her in HIPS under phrase 2C next yr & i stay within 1KM. Im starting to get worry about the balloting & such esp its my 1st time registering P1. theres not much choices in school at my area. either HIPS, CHIJ did consider b4 but my 2nd child is a boy so would prefer mixed sch or punggol pri. hougang pri & xin ming r way too far for me.

Xinming and Hougang pri are way too far for you???? Probably not walking distance but I believe these school are not far off for those within 1km of HIPS???? :?

Heard it’ll not be ready for many years more though, e.g. only be ready in 2015 or 2017…

Heard on paper the TOP is 2017 but actual is projected at 2014-2015.

I heard from friends who are agents, many families buying Minton because of PLMGS (and apparently one of them said that it's within 1-2km to Maris Stella too but I'm not too sure because I did not check).

Hmm... They prob won't count that as my address for registration even if we've purchased but not living in it at time of registration right? Or if it's ready when dd is in P1 but not yet when registering?

So kinda won't be useful for being nearer than 1km if it comes to balloting, but I suppose will be useful to buy after we confirm getting in, for the convenience of just walking to school...
