        Hi, hquek,

I like to buy chinese book too, usually go to Malaysia to buy, Expensive! compare to the price in \"Dang dang\". May I check with you, if I pay by credit card how many days I will receive the book? Any courier charges incurr?

        Thx
Sorry Mona vs lisa, didn't see this query until now.

Dangdang is an online retailer, they don't have bookshops. If you are going to HK/Macau, and you have time to browse, suggest you make a day trip to zhuhai. Just past the customs, there is a big bookshop in Zhuhai (gotta cross road type). the selections are pretty good.

I went to Shenzhen before (the so called biggest bookshop), and found the selections to be worse than the one in Zhuhai. And I couldn't find most of the stuff I found in Dangdang and wanted to buy - disappointed man.

Kindly note that bookshops sell at retail price (ie the number printed on the backcover). Dangdang price is typically discounted (some more, some less). If you ship to HK, shipping I think is 20-30% of the RETAIL price. If you ship to SG, shipping is 50% of the RETAIL price. so you can factor that before deciding how to order.

I heard from other mummies that if you pay by credit card and ship to SG, it's about 5 weeks. Kindly note that Dangdang payment verification is quite complicated and can take super long (the time lag is usually in verifying your payment) - but it will eventually be done. Just watch your email account and reply to them promptly. My recent experience, it took them 2 weeks and they still hadn't completed the audit (becos mine was multiple orders under 1 payment) - so upset until I cancelled and reordered using pay when receive (only possible if you are in China and if you have someone to take delivery).

I feel quite safe that they are not fly by night operator - cos the 幕后老板 is some large MNC investor or something.

Have a wonderful trip and enjoy!

          Sharing experience in zhuhai.

I bought the dora books (english/chinese) and one of the books was in pretty bad shape. The sales assistant was nice enough to give me a number - a vip card number. And I got 10% off all my purchases.

Moral of story: if you are minded and buying loads, can ask around if anyone got vip card to lend you. 10% off is 10% off. 😛

It's quite near - but I think you will have to cross a busy street (or maybe take a cab).

\"ZHUHAI Wenhua Bookstore on the first floor of the International Building in Gongbei with 17 category stores and 250,000 book products\". Apparently it's on Yingbin Avenue.

Diverting, if you are in zhuhai for sometime, you may like to try the seafood at 'Wan Zhai Hai Xian Jie' - got to take taxi; from gongbei is about RMB20. You will see a whole string of pp selling live/dead seafood. Make your purchases (eg small-med abalone at S$2) and then go into any restaurant and they will cook for you.

I thought their sale is in Nov, but seems to have been bumped up - or maybe they are having one per month. Anyway, if no plans for this weekend, can always drop by.
