Haha....it's ok to plan ahead. At least you're prepared and can make informed decisions for your DD.

Yes, you are absolutely right. The schools I mentioned are some popular choices for MCS gals but unfortunately for us, they have pri sch affiliations so our gals will really have to do well in PSLE to meet the cut-off points for admission to the respective schools.

A minority of high achievers do transfer out of MCS to the above mentioned schools end of P1-P3. Parents often view affiliated schools as a form of 'insurance'. There's no doubt affiliated schools have their advantages. Admission into St. Nick's and SCGS will be more competitive now that both schools are planning to offer IP programme in the near future.

Do you know when and why did MCS stop their sec school intake? :?
Otherwise our dd would be able to enjoy the benefits of affiliation.

How much pocket money are you giving your dd now? What are the meals she take at sch?

I don't know when or why MCS stop their sch sch intake but it's truly a shame. MCS has produced students who are such eloquent speakers such as Jean Danker and Suzanne Jung. A few of the current teachers are also alumni of MCS.

I give $1 pocket money to my P1 DD. She usually has her lunch at home and I pack some snacks for her recess. She would rather eat quickly and play than spend time queueing up for food. :roll:

If you're not packing food, usually $2 is enough for food and drinks. If your DD likes to shop at the bookshop , then you'll need to give more pocket money...haha

Hi all,


Juz brought DD to the dentist today. I chk wif him regarding opting out fr the sch dentist program and he told me that we will have to indicate our intentions by filling out a form. Otherwise our DDs will automatically be in the scheme.

Not sure if anyone else will also like to opt out? Wonder if Tinkerbelle or JonC has opt out experience or heard of anyone opting out? :scratchhead:

I had very bad experience wif my sch dentist as a child. Till now, I have great phobia each time I visit the dentist (any dentist). :nailbite: :scared: :sick:

Hi fmastuki,

Have you checked with other transport company from nearby schools (near to MCS)? During my sch days, my mom managed to find a sch bus from another Pri sch (privately owned). The sch bus driver did not mind sending me since my distance (bedok to katong) is part of his route anyway.
