No choice, if the maids' attitude sucks, they don't deserve to take the stuff I provide. After all, those are MY stuff, so they cannot tell the agency or report me as stealing their things. Even if I will dump them, I will not give to them.
When maids make me hit the roof, I can be hard-hearted and stand there while they pack. Things which are not theirs, I will tell them to take out and put aside.

I see some people who are not particularly nice to maids, but yet these people get maids who are able to work 2 years for them. Mind you, the maid has to serve 8 people in the household and yet go to the shop to clean up once a week.


I tell the maids from DAY 1 they are not allowed to answer back or be rude. My kids reinforce that. HaHaHa.

Maids arrive with one pathetic luggage. Lucky ones will leave with 2 luggages...mum had one who had to buy luggage to bring home her purchases. We bring them along when we shop. This particular maid bought 10 sets of bedsheets ! Imagine the weight. But does she appreciate ? NO. Out of the blue on 2 weekends, she sat on the chair for 3 hours, refusing to budge or prepare lunch. Fearing that she would do something silly, mum decided to send her back.


When I send my rude and horribly stubborn maids home (those with no debts), I use 'pick up' service bcos they don't deserve to be fetched to the airport. I make them pack their things in front of me. They are allowed to bring only their things home, or things they paid with their own money. Clothes, towels, toiletries which I provide are not to be taken.

That's her trick to secure a free trip back to her homeland at your expense. I'm so tired of all these antics that maids come up with.

Then the last straw for us was for her to receive a letter from boyfriend working in Japan. He sent her pics of him with pictures of naked women pasted around his bed :!: She went haywire and we decided to send her home before she did something drastic.

My maid has been working for me for 3 years already now into her 4th year (contract finishing next Aug2011).

I have been singing praises about this maid because really she has exceeded my expectations all these years. But recently in the past 6 months or so her attitude has slowly changed.

Firstly, found that she has not been telling me everything (including she did not turn stove fire off when she went to fetch my kid back from school). Told my hubby the incident who told her to tell me directly. When asked why didn't she tell me certain things & I have to hear from my hubby she will say she told sir already and she thought sir will tell me. :x (My hubby returns home in evening earlier than me btw). Recently got fed up with her when she tell me this I got to outright tell her to please remember who is her employer (ME!) and not to forget who is paying her salary, ok? :x

Secondly, when my MIL visited our place and commented about the dirty wall with pencil markings (my DS's doing lah!) and asked her to clean it, her attitude towards my MIL sucks. My MIL complained to me she did not even look at her, you can see her unhappiness and stuck-up attitude. MIL complained to us bitterly that both of us has spoit this maid terribly.

My response? I am TOTALLY RELYING on this maid to look after my son. I DON'T DARE to scold her too much since my son is in her hands (so to speak). It is hard to get good maids nowadays who can handle and look after kids well. So now I am \"HELD HOSTAGE\" by my maid!

Thirdly, recently went out to a wedding lunch and a buffet one at that. Kid was fussy and I was running to & fro the buffet table to bring food for kid & maid. I was flustered and harrassed but maid just sat there not much paying attention to kid (thinking since I am handling I am sure!). And slowly eating the food. Even my mother commented my maid is no longer like the past, ie. now it seems more like I am the maid and my maid like a \"tai tai\". :faint:

Anybody with same experience as me can share please?

Q1. Should I tell her her attitude nowadays sucks and she should buck up?
Q2. Should I renew her contract next year or change new maid?
