Secondary School Third Languages

Usually GPA is calculated using Maths English Chinese Science, and the highest among History/Geography/3rd Lang.Is it decided by MOE or the individual schools, whether to take in 3rd lang test marks into the total % or GPA calculation ?
I have heard in HCI and DHS, the students can choose to take in or not to take in the test marks of 3rd lang into their end of year % calculation. Is it true ? :?
So if 3rd lang is better than hist. and geog, it will be calculated into the GPA.

How many of your children are still taking 3rd language at the end of Year 1? I know a lot of kids have dropped it already.

Arabic, Chinese (for those who didn't do CL in primary school) and Malay (for those who didn't do ML in primary school). -
