Hi Everyone. My name is Fhamy and I'm a dad who is totally new to this and my girl is attending her P1 in MCS in 2011.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the matter that I have on hand. I live on Elias Road in Pasir Ris and I was informed by the recommended transport vendor that they don't cover that route. I had the same response when I was referred to another vendor.

Does anyone on this forum has any contacts for a reliable school transport company that would take up this job? I'm contactable via my mobile below.

      Cheers

      Hi fmastuki,

      :welcome:
Have you tried Chua Bus Services? MCS uses their services. Maybe you can try calling Mr.Chua on 6452 4650 / 9665 4521 to make enquiries.

          Hi Gecko,

          Thanks for the update.
MCS has also done very well in the Plain English Speaking Awards in recent years. In 2008, MCS was the 1st runner-up for Upper Primary category. In 2009, a P2 MCS student was the Champion (Lower Primary) and she also won the Audience's Favourite Speaker Award. This year, our MCS girls were 1st runner-up for Lower Primary csategory and 2nd runner-up for Upper Primary category. Very proud of our MCS girls' achievements. :rahrah:
          Wow, that's v impressive lor....

Tinkerbelle, do you know the % of MCS gals who got in their choice sch thru DSA? Not sure if the sch even release such results. :scratchhead:

            Hi cantbearit2,

Same here....I also had bad experiences with sch dentists as a child. 😒 Luckily for my DDs, they said that the sch dentists are better now.

I checked with both DDs and they said that all their classmates go for annual dental check-ups at sch. DD1 mentioned that some of her classmates go for the annual routine check-up but will usually see their own private dentist for extraction, polishing etc. If you're not keen, I believe you can opt out of this scheme during orientation where you have to fill up many forms (one of which is the dental form).
Thanks for the info, Tinkerbelle! :thankyou:

Think I will still choose to opt out (once bitten, twice shy) for DD.

Many forms during orientation? Do we need to pay for anything on the spot on that day?

Anyway, if any mummy is interested, it is a long....... waiting list. The centre supervisor says most likely they will call up all parents somewhere in Nov and will interview the parents. Priority will be given to needy families first.
              Good news, cantbear12 and all!!!

Rcvd a call from the centre supervisor that they are able to confirm my waitlist!!! Going to check out the place this weekend!

                    Hi parents,

Kindly enlighten me how much is the monthly school fees at MCS? Is the amount the same for all pri schs?

                    TIA πŸ˜‰

                    Hi kerbaya,

Currently, there are no school fees for primary schools for Singapore citizens. You'll only need to pay the standard miscellaneous fees of $5.50 (applicable for all pri schs) and the second-tier miscellaneous fees of a maximum amount of $5.50 (varies with each sch). In MCS, you're looking at $11/month in mics. fees for Singapore citizens, paid through Giro.

Only PRs and foreigners need to pay additional sch fees of $3.50. As of Jan 2011, PRs' sch fees will be increased to $22/mth (exc. mics fees).

                    Hi Tinkerbelle,

Thanks once again for your patience and time in clearing all our doubts.

                    Cheers!!!

                      Hi Tinkerbelle,

Do you know when and why did MCS stop their sec school intake? :?
Otherwise our dd would be able to enjoy the benefits of affiliation.

                      Hi,

I'm actually an \"old girl\" - gosh that sounds awful! Anyway, I was there 10yrs - Pri through Sec. All levels shared the same building and it was really nice. They closed the sec levels when they tore down the old building 10+ yrs ago. Sad.

We were so small there were only 2 classes per sec level. But that meant that practically everyone knew everyone or at least almost everyone's names. And yes, we've churned out many eloquent speakers like Jean Danker and Margaret Lim and also many other successful women.

10yrs ago I organised our 10th Yr Reunion at the new sch building where your girls are now. It was nice to see the school upgraded to cater to the needs of the girls now but I think most of us missed our cosy old school. Can't believe I'm in the midst of planning our 20th (!) Yr Reunion next month! I can still remember my time in sch vividly, hard to believe that most of us are mums now (some even with daughters back in MCS). One thing for sure, none of our parents were as \"ON\" as you guys! Maybe you should rally for the reopening of the sec sch! I think many \"old girls\" like myself would be more than happy to back such a petition!

Anyway, all the best to you and your girls from an \"old girl\"! :rahrah:

                        Hi cantbearit2,
Sorry, I dunno the exact % as the sch does not officially release the results. I'm not sure about other CCA groups but 2 of our MCS rhythmic gymnasts have been accepted by RGS thru this year's DSA exercise. Well done girls!!! :congrats:

Anyone here with DSA success stories for this year's DSA exercise? Care to share?? TIA
