      Thanks for you help. But I still don’t quite get it. Why those numbers appear twice must by placed in the corner circle? Hmmm…is there any rule I can follow to explain why the numbers appear twice must be place in the corner?

      Pardon me but my maths was quite lousy why I was younger.

        My son told the maths paper was easy.

        I thank the mathsguru team and esp Mr Dharma and Sweet girl vanilla cake for the marvellous work in helping us understand the sums.
        Thank you again.
        GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

          Number that appear twice in the number bonds abovve is shared between 2 sides of the triangle. If u place 6 at the top most circle, 6 is common to the number bonds on the 2 sides of the triangle.

          Similarly, 2 and 4 will have be shared by 2 different number bonds. Draw the numbers on the circle and you will see it clearly.

                    Lowest Common Multiple of 4 and 5: 20

                    Skirts: 20 unit (u)
                    Dresses: 20 unit + 70

                    Sold: Skirts: 12u + 42
                    Dresses: 15u

                    Remaining: Skirts : 8u + 28
                    Dresses: 5u

                    15u = 12u + 42 + 126 (12u + 168)

                    (15 - 12)u = 168

                    1u = 168 ÷ 3 = 56

                    3 x 8 = 24

                    24 + 28 = 52 → Skirts
                    3 x 5 = 15 → Dresses

                    52/52+15 = 52/67

                    🙂

                      Let Dresses = 20d, skirts = 20s

                      20d - 20s = 70-----> (1)

                      3/4 of Dresses = 15d; remaining = 5d
                      3/5 of skirts = 12s; remaining = 8s

                      15d - 12s = 126------> (2)

                      required fraction = 8s/(5d+8s)

                      from (1) an (2), we get

                      4d -4s = 14
                      5d - 4s = 42
                      so,
                      d = 42 - 14 = 28------------> 5s = 140
                      4s = 4d -14 = 112 - 14 = 98----> 8s = 196

                      8s/(5d+8s) = 196/(140+196) = 196/336 = 49/84

                        Ali was given 0.18litres of cough mixture by the doctor. He had to take 10ml of it every 4 hours. How many days would he take to finish the cough mixture ?

                        The answer given is 2 5/6 instead of 3.

                        Pls advise
