Daddy

Good one.... how come the reporter(s) went to interview the sch kids? Very irritating...
My personal opinion is that the way the current admin cope with these nine issues (maybe more? anyone wants to add to this?) will tell us a lot about what to expect in the difficult months ahead. -
:? why is (9) there?

You all see the point?
This is how stigma in homosexuality can cause harm. It can be exploited as a weapon against the person someone dislike regardless of his ability and contribution to the society or the organisation.
Please don’t beat me. I am not concluding that OTC is really involved in homosexuality affairs but just saying that it can be exploited to defame a rival unfairly. -

What has this got to do with homosexuality? If there is implication of involvement with a female teacher, the problem will be the same. Its a matter of personal conduct, not homosexuality. You all see the point?

The point is why we feel we are entitled to voyeurism or to take a holier than thou approach when we know nothing about the situation. Yes, maybe there is something in it. So what? We are all so perfect in our own daily conduct, we are entitled to throw brickbats and cast aspersions about public figures? Or is it just the tabloid mentality?WeiHan:

Belief in mortal is love, idolise,... blind faith

This week was supposed to be a week of rest for me. Yet, my mind was raided with so many events around me. The OTC affair, as I’d call it is one.
OTC is not just an ACS(I) principal from afar for me. I know his wife and his children reasonably well. Even so, I cannot say that I know his character enough to vouch that he is not capable of any wrong doing. But the point is, it didn’t matter whether he was guilty or not in this case. The point is, my support for him remains, even if he had faltered. No matter what the evidences are, I’ll believe in what he says, because I know he is not capable of lying.
When DS1 was given a place both in RI and ACS(I), it was OTC’s second son who encouraged my son choose the former as he was from RI himself. OTC tried to persuade me to put DS1 into ACS(I) at that time, since my son did top the HAST and was a medalist and State representative in his sport. Nevertheless, I choose RI over ACS(I) for these reasons:
1. It was nearer my home.
2. I am a loyal ex-Rafflesian.
3. I didn’t want Uncle TC to be Principal OTC or Dr Ong as well. Because, I know this Chinese saying: 树大招风。 And, no matter how upright you try to be, there will be some who will seek to damage you, your reputation and your family. I’ve lived long enough, and been in high positions enough to witness and experience this myself. When that happens (like now), it will be harder for me to explain to DS1 why upright Uncle TC is facing all these. BTW, I also know the ex-RI principal, but not enough to have to answer all these questions should they arise.
A person should be judged by the fruits he bears. Look around ACS(I), you’d seen his hands in every little detail. Granted, he had a good staff, but remember, he chose his team well, and he provided the leadership. Listen to his staff and students about how he would go an extra mile to ensure they did well. Look at his family, his young adult children are what we, Kiasuparents hope our children will turn out one day - despite all the hiccups along the way (who has none?). Don’t pinpoint one or two incidents, look at the broader picture. His work is exemplary by all accounts.
I still have two young primary school children in ACS(J) and ACS(P) who might go to ACS(I) one day, and now that OTC is no longer there, I have one less obstacle if you have read above. Yet, ACS(I) may no longer be a school I would consider, since I don’t know who will helm it next. OTC was a great leader with a trustworthy character. Unless the next principal shows equal credentials in these aspects, I may not even consider applying for DSA.
So, be a little kinder my friends. 3Boys kept reminding us this week. Give the man a chance. I KNOW he well deserves your compassionate heart. Let’s not be ugly Singaporeans.
