You all see the point?

This is how stigma in homosexuality can cause harm. It can be exploited as a weapon against the person someone dislike regardless of his ability and contribution to the society or the organisation.

Please don't beat me. I am not concluding that OTC is really involved in homosexuality affairs but just saying that it can be exploited to defame a rival unfairly.

What has this got to do with homosexuality? If there is implication of involvement with a female teacher, the problem will be the same. Its a matter of personal conduct, not homosexuality.

Let's see further that if it is homosexuality that makes the issue worse than involvement with female teacher. Either this or that homosexuality has elvoled into such a non-issue in Singapore.

I have other comments but I'll wait for the jury first.
You miss the point.

Yes, mis-conduct of any form, may be used as blackmail. I.e, someone who uses drugs, is alcoholic, involved in fraud, all these 'may be exploited' as you put it, to pull down the reputation of the person. But the fact that it may be used to pull down the reputation of a person, does not therefore make these activities right or justify them to be acceptable.

I know I’m going to sound a little naggy, and if I’m off topic, moderators, please shift this to another thread.

Talk about TT Durai. I remember how irate I was after my first meeting with him. He had invited me to his office through his two beautiful, young, tall and well-spoken sales personnel in 2003.

Upon reaching his office in Macpherson, I was stunned by the size of a charity organization’s building. The sales rep first walked me through the reception - wow… even the deco rocks on the wall cost hundreds of thousands and imported from… I forgot where… I was then led to his needless-to-say ostentatious office the size of a HDB flat. He then sat me down.

Over the next few hours, I was given a run down of NKF’s achievements and why they should be our good partner for philantrophy. Then, a tour of their impressive office, including a training centre with facilities as good as some university lecture theatres. Durai even offered to train my sales staff. An offer I did not take up, though I knew he would have done a great job. Strangely, I was not impressed, I was perturbed. Was that where my children’s recess money had gone into?

I went home and told my children and staff that I’d never sign on their NFK cards again. If any kidney patient needed money, please come and see me personally. Durai told me himself, when he was still a CEO of NKF, that NKF was controversial. It was obvious, and I have never called on him ever since.

Yet when he was implicated many years later, I felt really sad for this man. Granted, he did not do what I thought was right, but this man was not without contribution to our society. Perhaps his years in power made him a little complacent (wouldn’t success make us all?), perhaps he was given so much autonomy over the years that he forgot he was accountable? In a moment, people forgot that he was the man who pioneered many charity initiatives, and taught us much about giving.

Sadly, our society is such, we forget all the good a person has done the moment he has one tarnish on his record. Have we forgotten that we are all human and humans err? Everyone needs a second chance. Do we have to wait till we fall to realize we CAN fall? I’m not saying those who err should not be punished. I am saying we should gracious and compassionate about it. Punish them, but don’t kill them.

          ACS(BR) - year 2002 case

          ACS rugby fight with SASS

          ACJC student ragging

          ACJC students sex video

          what next ?
I wouldn't lump all the cases as similar in nature. Some involved people in position taking advantage of that on unconsenting underage. That is wrong.....But students with sex video? It is just subjective morality issue...I'll play devil advocate that if students at that age aren't curious about sex...I'll be very worried.

NO intention to lump them as similar, just all the cases with two starting letters as AC.....

              Completely right.

Whilst a person is ultimately responsible for his own personal conduct, in large organisations, the board of directors has the fiduciary duty to ensure they put up the rails and boundaries of what a CEO/Head can do, particularly for strong, charismatic personalities. How many of them have we seen go off the rails. It is mostly their own fault, but the board has some culpability.

In our personal lives, it is also important to create a 'board of directors', people we trust who will give us honest counsel and keep us on the straight and narrow. Look at MM Lee and Mrs Lee, who can deny the impact she had on his life? He may have been the CEO, but she was surely Chairman of the board.....

If the report proves true, i wonder the police will step in and invoke the famous section 377a to prosecute OTC?

Afterall, the law has been invoked to prosecute two consenting males. Not to mention in this case, an unwilling male victim is involved.

Huh? Which reports says \"any act of gross indecency with another male person\" or sodomy? Are we talking about the same case?

If it isn't \"indecent\" enough, why should that \"victim\" thought that it can be an issue contacting ST.
