for scgs, anybody has their past statistics? I cant seems to find their statistics for eg, phase 2b, less then 1km, how many applied how many went in, 1-2km, etc. need to gauge what is the chance?

does scgs and nyps has almost the same standard? I was reading up on the school and realised that the affilation psle marks to get in their sec is 200, why is it so low? If my girl was to get it based on 200 will she be able to survive?

        Hi

        Need some advise.

I've sent in the PV application to SCGS last year.. and now i am still waiting for their reply.

I called them last month to follow up, they said my application is still pending. Why they are holding back so long?
Based on my experience SCGS does not take in new PV for P2B. They have enough PV from the existing P1-P6 students. The reason why SCGS is so popular is simple and almost all parents here going for P1 registration soon will know.
        1. All girls' school
        2. Affiliation with Sec School, that will be not so stressful at PSLE
        3. Standard is higher

The only way to qualify for P2B is through RC member route.

Based on past years statistics if you qualified for P2B, you stand a very high chance of getting a place regardless how far you stay from the school. They have more vacancies than the number of applicates in P2B. But that does not mean that the school is not popular. The reason is SCGS restrict the number of applicates in P2B. The problem you have to handle is how to qualify for P2B.

Thanks for the info, which means if I am P2B, I could get in and no need to shift house. Thats great!

[/quote]One thing I would like to comment about scgs is once you are there, opportunities are given to everybody regardless of family background. It is an independent full school which emphasis on 10 year education, so less stressful for PSLE. 😉

Since you are so confident of getting into P2B you must have done some homework. Congrates, you have chosen one of the best girls' school in singapore for your DD.

Any schools along Bukit Timah or Dunearn Road have MORE VERY rich ppl as compare to elsewhere. Be it SCGS, ACS, SJI, NYPS, RGPS and MGS.

                  Hi rradhika,

I’m also looking at Tampines. Am very sure St Hildas’ is out, coz I’m staying outside the 1km, even if PVed still require to ballot. Am hoping for Poi Ching, which is very near where I’m staying.

Thanks for all the great info, for the affilation I would have to give up on nyps, I do love nyps alot, but I figure that my girls would need the affilation help to ensure that they are at least in a good environ for the 10 years.

Whether they made it to JC, or poly, at least this 10 years I knw they are in good study/peers environ. In case they are late bloomers, the affilation will still enable them to have more time to prepare themselves as mebe they havent kai qiao during pri sch days. If by sec, still haven kai qiao  , it would be their destiny. **Ren ming**.

NYPS is affilated to NANYANG GIRLS' HIGH SCHOOL for girls.

                        Thanks all the advise.

I have check out some schools to be considered as my 2nd or 3rd choice like RGPS and Nanyang around Bukit Timah area. I still find SCGS is most suitable for my girl, not so stress for my girl during PSLE as their cut off point to Secondary School is lower. I know cos I was very stress when my son did his PSLE last year.

From the forum, I know is very difficult to apply for parent volunteer that qualify for phase 2B, even my friend has submitted the sametime with me last year June but was rejected. As still now, My application is still pending. I will try to call the school again.

My girl going for P1 registration next year 2010. What about phase 2C, I stay within 1KM. What is the chance? Balloting?
