I also thought that their sales were in Nov? :? Oh no, this weekend I would be overseas..aiya will miss it. -
MPH sale in Oct also very odd - and very last minute. I still see another MPH sale in early Nov. Just wait for the next one - I’m not holding my breath for good stuff, but no harm seeing right? (except to my pocket).
Those who are going, please kindly share findings if it’s worth to make the trip down. Thank you very very much. -
hquek and to all who are interested,
I went down to the MPH sale just now to browse. Bought some cook books.
Its a book haven for adults - non fiction, fiction, self-help, cookery, travel etc …
Prices start from $5 for paperback novels. Certain sections, like the above mentioned, including hardcover books can get for $8. Quite irritated at myself cuz I bought an autobiographical at $20 plus some months back and it was going for $8 :x
Didn’t feel there was a good spread for kids’ books. But then again, I was only looking for age 3 yrs. The children’s sections were very messy, didn’t have time to go through so cannot comment.
Pple were buying box loads of books (literally) as there were no baskets. If my DS weren’t with me, I would have done the same.
If I have the time, will go back on Sunday. For me, its worth the second trip.
ps: Just to give you all a gist of what the prices are like - I spent total of $6 on 2 children’s books, $28 on 4 hardcover cookbooks and $7 on one hardcover self-help book. -
For children books with list price US$5.99 & below - MPH sale $3 for 1 & $10 for 5
I bought 11 books so total price $23.
However the books aren’t exactly in mint condition considering they are supposd to be brand new. Some books are tinted with yellowish patches. Too long in the warehouse I suppose.
Books are very messy & dh only gave me 20 minutes so I only managed to grab those that caught my eyes, didn’t have a chance to dig further -
Thanks Autumnbronze and sleepy for the update.
Agree, it's pretty good for adult books (plenty of Dan Browns, some Jodi Picoult), travel books. I went browsing at children's section mainly. Saw others with 3 G.Stilton books but I wasn't able to get more (no fate I guess). I think it's more for older kids who are into chapter books. Saw a lot of Princess Power books and some other series I am unfamiliar with. Also saw quite a few classics like Pinocchio, Dickens books etc.
For myself, I carted 20 books (at 5.99 and below) - so damage is $20. Amongst them were Michael Morpurgo's books, some stepping stones books (true stories or classics simplified).
BTW, buyers beware. I saw some books that look pristine, but the pages are torn - manufacturers fault (not by readers). So please do a quick vet prior to purchase.
NO Enid Blyton, Little Men/Miss sighted.
I think I will wait for the Nov one and see what's the diff.

BRING TROLLEY just in case you want to get many books. They only provide a box which is so cumbersome to carry around.
