hi, thanks so much for the info! i really appreciate that
Hi ta2,
Wow, you're really planning ahead.
I guess it depends on what is your definition of 'strong' Catholic faith. MCS has catechism classes every wed. for Catholics. Most of the catechists are parent volunteers and some of them have been doing it for years. :salute: My DDs really enjoy their catechism lessons.
MCS has prayers in the morning during assembly
and the occasional mass for special events such as Foundress' Day, National Day etc. There's a chapel nearby for masses every Tuesday before sch starts if Catholic pupils are interested.
In line with the Catholic faith, MCS' school motto is' God is our LIGHT'. LIGHT is the acronym for our sch values - love, integrity, grace, happiness and trust. These values are frequently reiterated to the girls.
Is that somewhat similar to CHS (other than the sch motto and values)??? :D[/quote] -
Congratulations to all P3s who made it to Round 2 of the GEP selection tests. Good luck with the tests. :celebrate:

Hi, may I ask, for new P1 girls, when do they start CCAs? 1st, 2nd, 3rd term? Cos I understand that P1 Catholic High boys start their CCAs in 3rd term. Are the girls selected for CCAs like gymnastics, dance etc or do they get to choose the CCAs they want?
Thanks! -
Yes I am also curious to find out when are the girls starting the CCA in P1?
May I know what is GEP? I know it’s something gotta do with gifted program… but may i have more info?
Nothing much has been mentioned about the chinese/mandarin in Marymount Convent. Can any parents give an insight about the standard and achievements for chinese??
I have just called Marymount Convent today. The lady who answered my call said that the girls need not wear uniforms on the orientation day this year. She said new principle so there are changes in the procedures etc too… letters will be sent out very soon to all P1 parents. The orientation will end ard 12.30pm. -

The annual GEP selection tests are open to all P3 students - it is optional whether students wish to sit for the tests. There are two tests, only short listed students will take the second test. More info can be obtained from the MOE site : http://www.moe.edu.sg/education/programmes/gifted-education-programme/

Just wanna update you that I received a call from the school's official transport company offering the service from my place on Elias Road to MCS. Fees are doubled and timing is early, ie est, 10.30am pick up and 8pm drop off. I'm actually happy that my situation has improved from where I was previously and am ok with the transport charges. Only concerned about the travel time though I'm thankful for what's come my way so far.
Hi fmastuki,fmastuki:
Hi Tinkerbelle. Thanks anyway. I've written to the school site seeeking some help from them in finding out if there are any other students that lives in the east, ie Bedok, Tampines or Pasir Ris that are interested in the school bus. If I could get 10 students, I could possibly get a school transport company to arrange for a combi bus. Otherwise, it'll be difficult for me to send my girl to school as it clashes with my work.
Wishing you all the best. :xedfingers: -
