Travel: Australia - Gold Coast

For those going in December, pls cater for sunblocks, hats, comfortable clothings eg. t-shirts, shorts, bermudas.


We went in Dec last year and the weather was really hot. Not to be a wet blanket but it was so hot that the thought of queuing for rides or staying outdoor puts us off.

As we took on a package with 5 star, they took us to movie world directly when we touch down. So the way we were dressed weren’t prepared for the hot sun.

Anyone have stayed in Marrakesh Apartment before? any comments?

Hi we stayed there during our last trip. It was quite nice and we had a good view of the sea. The apartment is quite spacious, the decor quite nice and modern. I usually prefer staying in apartments as it feels more homely, and you can wash your clothes in the washing machine, or even cook a simple meal if you feel like it.

Marrakesh is not exactly in the heart of Surfers Paradise but it's still quite convenient. It's quite near the big shopping mall Pacific Fair and there are some restaurants nearby. But if you prefer to be in the heart of town, with lots more shops and eateries just downstairs, then Marrakesh may not be so suitable for you. Depends what you prefer.

December daytime will be hot. It's summer, so can get as hot as Singapore e.g. 30 deg. Less humid but the sun is strong. Wouldn't recommend track pants for daytime! Early morning and nights will be cooler though.

But that said, the weather these days is quite unpredictable. 2 years ago, I went to Brisbane (near Gold Coast) for a work trip in January. Thought it would be v warm. I ended up having to buy a jacket as it was quite cold.

So should wear shorts most of the time and bring jackets just in case? I dont really know what to pack after reading all this :? Maybe have to bring our 'jumbo' suitcase with so many types of clothing..

Don't think it takes so long lah..

Direct flight should be around 7.5 to 8 hours..

All our tour mates were down to shorts and as casual as possible when we were at the theme park... It's too hot to dress \"nicely\".

Unfortunately no budget air from SG flies to Brisbane Airport.
Brisbane airport another 1 hour drive to Gold Coast.
