Mindstretcher - Discussion

mrswongtuition:
Mindstretcher have been placing ads in newspaper to hire new tutors.
Always keep a lookout in the newspaper on such things cos it may mean that there's a high turnover rate (unless they are opening a new branch).
it's true that they aggressively recruiting cos they're opening a new branch in dec 2010 (bukit panjang) and another one in mar 2011 (clementi). also, they're diversifying with expansion of creative writing classes at more branches, gep prep classes and an enhanced high achiever science curriculum (source: their website, their fb page and the branch that my son is at). besides, it's the end of the year and the centre is probably recruiting for the next academic year since theirs start in december. they're also looking for CS personnel to support growing operations.
from the looks of it, i think ads placed by ms in the newspapers might actually mean that they're doing well and is in need of more tutors for all its branches, not vice versa. -

i think 15 is still manageable. depends solely on the teacher's ability in managing the kids. the \"high flyers\" are actually taken out of the mainstream classes into high achiever classes so what's left is the mid and low range ones and this helps the teacher in a way to manage them better. 15:1 (worst case scenario) is still better than 40:1 (in the schools). i think what matters more is the fit between the student and the teacher. if it's not working for you, you can always transfer to another class. my advice to you if you would like to keep the ratio as small as possible, opt for the weekday classes where there are generally smaller.Does anyone knows about MS at Jurong branch? They are shifting to Jurong East (the old Jurong Primary school) in early Dec. Which teacher is good?
15 to a class is a bit too many and I wonder how the teacher is going to manage the class should there be different levels of students in the class.
as for which teacher is good, i can't help you there. it seems like those in the parents in the western branches don't really come online to the forums. -
How about their branch in Yishun CC around Blk 200 series? Are they good, especially for the upper primary? Or are they good in certain subjects for that level only? Heard some reviews on other branches that not all subjects taught in the centre is good. Can someone feedback on the Yishun branch pls? TIA.
