Teacher sues MOE

Don't get me wrong. I have high respect for most teachers too, but of course, as in every occupation, there are some black sheeps among the white.Hmmm...if we want to talk about lack of skills, then we have to return to the root of the problem, i.e. the education system she had gone through then to train her as a teacher.
All I can say is that from my dealings with teachers so far, many of them live in a \"sheltered\" world of their own area of responsibilities so don't expect them to have the sharpness of a corporate animal or even a sharp homemaker who has to multi-task and bargain at the market. Actually sometimes the simplicity of a teacher allows our kids to retain their sweet innocence longer.
Despite having encountered some incidences with teachers due to exactly this lack of skills, my conclusion is I still hold HIGH regards and respect for them for their work is quite thankless and the returns are less lucrative than that of a tutor. -

No friend, it's not about you specifically, sorry I just quoted from your reply.
Just that my aunt was an ex-teacher before and when I saw this teacher with my aunt in mind plus other teachers I have met, I saw the reason why they responded thus. -

Who are the \"they\"? How come you know I donch know? -
Looks like Singapore is becoming like US where everyone is suing everyone over everything. Just over the last few days I read about 4 cases of people suing govt agencies or schools.
This teacher case,
the case of the girl who died while treking Mt Panti,
the teenager who fell while cable skiing as part of PE
NS man suing SAF claiming negligence over a sprained ankle that somehow led to him developing phobia
Hmm…so the profession of choice should be lawyer or psychiatrist or psychologist for our kids cos most of this cases involve psychiatrist or psychololists. -

No, I know you were not targetting at me and neither was I. Merely stating facts that there are all sorts of teachers around. I know of some who took up teaching because they love kids and want to have a role in shaping them, but yet I also know of others who are teachers for the sake of the $, which is sad.No friend, it's not about you specifically, sorry I just quoted from your reply.

Agree totally. The word \"sue\" is so common nowadays.Looks like Singapore is becoming like US where everyone is suing everyone over everything. Just this morning was reading the papers about a . Just over the last few days I read about 4 cases of people suing govt agencies or schools.

Hey ksi, your observation is very interesting.
But it has become a corporate world out there, office politics are rife and claws are very very sharp.
And aren't teachers multi-tasking all the time?? Juggling numerous other portfolios while still responsible for teaching?
Well, at least from my friends and my own past experience.
As 25hourmaid aptly put it, there are always some black sheeps among the whites lah ...
