rec’ my ger p1 class next year? so fast…
-
Oh dear doraemo, so many things for swimming! How did your daughter manage to carry all that plus her usual school bag? Do you remember when the lessons start? Is it compulsory? I assume lunch and snack times are at the sch canteen? That aquatic centre is the Ang Peng Siong one right?
Harmonica/recorder lessons are during the usual music lessons I hope? My daughter has no music background so she’ll have to start with theory.
By the way, are the Maths books for P2 the green My Pals Are Here? -
Dear plum-cake, my sis-in-law is a tuition teacher so she also taught my daughter. But she focused more on the paying kids so we got poly students as replacements. They all did decent jobs and my daughter did relatively well in her English and Tamil practice papers. But Maths was a shock, she only had borderline pass. So my husband started giving her additional work, all the way up to last night (cos her Maths exam is today).
Yes, we want to get her more professional tuition in Maths and Tamil, wef December. My husband looked at a few tuition centres but they only cater to P3 and above. -
Hi Jacsplace
No need to worry…after a while , she will manage .
I have misplaced the letter…checked my email to her FT was dated 16 Jan….so lessons starting around 3rd week of January. Yes, it is compulsory. Unless medical or you can get a letter from her current swimming coach to indicate the level of competency e.g able to swim 50m.
Almost 90% of her class have joined the swimming. After class ended, go for their lunch at the canteen… then change into swimming attire and wait for the swim bus. Back to school, snack at the sch canteen and wait for CCA bus at 4.30pm. Should be the Ang Peng Siong one as letter didn’t mention his name. Anyway, Farrer Park aquatic centre is owned by APS.
Harmonica/recorder lessons are part of music lessons…if no music background then start with theory.
Yes, Maths for P2 is the green My Pals Are Here - workbooks, textbooks and Maths Tests. and also SMPS own Maths book. -
Thanks doraemo! Guess we’ll cross the swimming bridge when it hits us

Thank you! Yes, first I thought I can manage .. but then I realized Its some times hard to teach her.... 1. Time management 2. The way I teach her , may be diff.. from the school so you know.. I put her in the kumon but its not helping at all. If you find anything good can you pls share the details... what do you think about the learning lab?
thanks for the infor... -
Hi If anybody out there know the ans of any of these Qs pls share with me
Thanks
where do you all buy the books? at school bookshop or at popular??
do they shuffle the classes or just move to (p1 - )p2?
what will happen if they didn do the exams very well??? or fail (ksp)
like P1 orientation day, do we have a day to buy books, uniform, etc?
:? -
Hi plum-cake,
You can buy everything on orientation day. Just bring lots of cash or your chequebook. You can also book transport and after-school care on that day. You may want to go as early as possible to avoid the crowds.
P1s are automatically moved up to P2, regardless of exam results.
I’ll keep you posted on tuition. I don’t think learning lab follows moe. They seem quite atas to me, too slick and clinical. No fun! Maybe okay for enrichment? -
One more thing plum-cake: if you want to buy from Popular, also can. But certain things are SMPS-branded, like the art bag and some exercise books. They'll also sell you SMPS socks but that's optional, can wear your own white ones (your daughter of course, not you
.)
But if you're a Popular member and can get discount on textbooks, then take advantage of that and get the other stuff from the school bookshop. -
