mjl,
u stated that the GPA may be subjected to moderation, are u only referring to Sec 3 and Sec 4,
or it also applies to Sec 1 and Sec 2.

btw, can i clarify with u, for Sec 1 , is Eng and Literature considered as 2 separate subjects or 1 subject,
as u stated 5 core and 2 other subjects.
TIA

Hi Augmum, GPA moderation applies to all levels but it is not common. English and Literature are 2 separate subjects.

thks for the reply......
so in RGS, eng and lit are considered as 2 subjects
u see, u mentioned 7 subjects, i was thinking what are the 7
becos in my gal's sch (DHS) eng and lit, is known as Language arts which is 1 subject.

so after moderation, what is the normal increase in the final computed GPA, any idea ??
Hi Augmum,

How many examinable subjects does your dd's school offer?
Hi mjl, do you know the average GPA score for the Sec 1s and 2s this year? When will these be released? Thanks.

Hi jtoh,

I am new and Singapore PR, my DD had DSA to RGS next year. I had read thru the thread still not clear abt the IP syllabus, hope that you can explain to me šŸ™‚

1. How many subjects do the RGS sec 1 students need to take?
2. Science is 1 subject or seprated to 3 papers, bio, chem & phy?

thx very much.

Hi Hans,

The girls take the following subjects in Year 1:
English
Math
Mother Tongue
Biology/Chemistry/Physics*
Literature
History
Geography

(Bio, Chem and Physics are taught and examined separately. One each in each semester.)

Those are the 7 examinable subjects.

Some students may choose to take an 8th examinable subject such as a Third Lang, MEP, SAP, CSP, MSP, RSP etc.

In addition, the girls also take the following subjects: Philosophy, Aesthetics, Speech & Drama, PE... (can't remember what else there is).
Hi Jtoh,

Thank you for the clear explanation. I understand better now. šŸ˜Ž

Hi jtoh,

The mean & median GPA scores are normally released during the Principal's talk after the SPM sessions the following June/July.

there are 6 examinable subjects as eng and lit are combined under 1 subject named lang arts.
other subjects are conversational malay, CME, chinese culture, music, art, elective, computing
and life skills (is there anymore ??? i oso can't remember)
these subjects are graded and will reflect in the report book,
but will not be used in the computation of GPA.
