At the rate that your dd is progressing, I'm sure your dd will eventually make it to band 1 for HCL in the coming years, as long as she & her pte tutor is more 'on' (just joking on the last part) .
Oh, that will only get tougher. I only know the score for paper 2. When she told me she scores 41/50, I was alittle shock, then I found out that many of her classmates score around high 30s. I have not seen the paper yet to comment anything, maybe paper is tough and scoring will only gets tougher along the way.
My eat-potato girl consistently scored in the 90s region for P1 and P2. It is possible. Even eat potato does not nec mean hopeless in CL scores. More than 1 of her CL teachers mentioned to me that they were taken back the moment she opens her mouth to start speaking mandarin. Very, very slow. She speaks english like a rifle gun.
As for the 'ON' part, I am feeling the strain on my age catching up. -
In PH, the marks are very close, esp for kids in Charity.
When my son was in P2, he did very well for Maths in SA2 and that pulled his overall results up to be 3rd in class. His form teacher (pretty much the eat pig lard type) and I were pleasantly surprised. His classmate who got 2nd in class had results slightly better (like 2-3 marks)…not complaining but will always remember the pride and joy going up the stage to receive trophy with him then.
At P3, there was a big dip in his results :!: it was really a WAKE-UP call to the REAL world…or should I say WAKE UP, this is Pei Hwa !!!
There are equal number of hours for Chinese and English…if I’m not wrong, there is one day in a week where Chinese lesson is 1 hr long. -

Hi JanetHi Mummy58,
I'm so happy to learn your daughter did so well. :celebrate:
My son told me his teacher told the class someone scored 100 for Science :!: that child must have grasped the concepts very well and replied straight to the point. Really super !!!
Thanks! Although she still maintain Band 1 but she did not do better than SA1 thanks to careless mistake and also for not checking thoroughly because she said she still got some time to 'rest' after completion of her paper, sign....The top scorer in her class got 100. She must be very careful in checking her work. -
Mummy58:
Congrats!
My dd (P2) Maths result was out yeaterday. Teacher told them the whole class got band 1.
Wow...whole class band 1! Which class is this? -
Hi Mummy58,
Congrats to you...:)
My son didn't do well for his CA1 and SA1, but that's to be expected, knowing his super carelessness. The top scorers are usually those who are very careful, not necessarily super intelligent. For Maths, it's possible to score 100...seems like it's possible to do so for Science too. -

Maths and Science are possible to score full marks as they are looking for logic answers. I agree that these kids who score 100% or very close to it are very very careful kids, and they have to be pretty intelligent too. These papers always have at least 2 very challenging questions (esp Maths), which are not taught on texts. Those who managed these tough questions need to use some brain juice. Even EL and CL paper 2 can score full, tough to, but possible. Oral and Compo are the ones that most likely not.Hi Mummy58,
Congrats to you...:)

There is definitely no shortcut to score. Efforts have been made beside paying good attention in class. For Maths, it is practises after practises, for Science is to read widely. So are EL and CL, REGULAR reading, speaking, writing and listening are essential to enhance smooth use. -

PH is truly competitive. The most difficult part is consistency. The ability of a young child to be disciplined and focused will determine the outcome. At P3, there was a big dip in his results :!: it was really a WAKE-UP call to the REAL world...or should I say WAKE UP, this is Pei Hwa !!!
So as advised by many here before, do not take it too easy, be prepared for CA1 & SA1 and not wait till 2nd semester to do the catching up.
Rest well for the rest of the year and fight hard in the coming new year. :celebrate: -
It’s hard to explain to any parent what the expectations of Pei Hwa are…only when the child is in the school, there is no need to say anything more.
Consistent revision is vital in Pei Hwa…revision for SA2 should start in late July/August as the child moves to upper levels.
The time to enjoy the most is after SA2…bcos teachers continues to teach subjects not long after SA1. -

No matter how relax a parent is in P1 after SA1 result is out, whether is good or bad, parents will get a \"feel\" of the competitiveness and get \"suck\" into this new world of education rat race.
Those who did not do well will put in extra effort and those who did well would want to excel higher. And the cycle replay itself over and over again till P6. -
Hi hi to all new mummies and daddies! Very very Warm Welcome!
I’ve been MIA for a long time! Kids exams are over so I’m really relieved and enjoying myself.
Hello Comfy,
My dd luvs Charlie and Lola too! The series had enthralled her since K1 and she still reads them sometimes! I have the CDs in English. If dd has the CDs, I’m sure she watches and re-watches them right? If you don’t hv, feel free to PM me and I can pass to you!
I have another Chinese author besides Wu Mei Zhen. She is Wang Su-Fen. The series I read was "Wei Jun Shang Xue" aka Wei Jun goes to school. The P1 and P2 books she wrote has HanYuPingYin. You can find her books in the library. Author has great sense of humor. I laughed as much as I did when I read Wu Mei Zhen’s "Ah Dai yu Ah Gua", great series as well! All available from the library!
Cheers!
Rach
