Singaporean who has not been back for a while-what to see?

My family and I will be back this Dec for a short break in Singapore. My kids have not really seen much of Singapore because we have been away in UK due to hubby's work.

I have heard how much Singapore has changed, any recommendations as to what are the must see attractions for a family with pri school going kids who have not been back in singapore for a while? :lol:

Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands.


But I’d say just bring them to your old haunts, introduce them to singaporean food… I always tell my overseas friends that singapore is so small, and there’s nothing to see, but plenty to eat.

walk around east coast park, have some chilli crab… bring them to bottle tree park - there’s longkang fishing there (quite ulu location - can google for address), go night safari and zoo - even if they’ve been before, we have one of the best zoos in the world so worth going again, and there’s a fantastic water play park in the zoo.

Universal Studio in RWS - think children of all ages will love it.


Marina Barage - My kids love it there, nice view of Singapore CBD area with open space to run and fly kites. Lots of families picnic there.

Sengkang public swimming pool - its a small version of Big Splash with lots of water play slides and its cheap.

I think you should bring them to see the most 'Singaporean sights': FOOD!


Hawker centres, wet markets, HDB estates, etc.
Can teach them about Singapore's history at the same time.

Bring them around on public transport.

I brought my friends (stayed in HK for past 10 years) to prawning and they loved it! Wait by the pond with rods for the prawns to take the bait. Then you can BBQ the prawns on the spot.

My son prefers it at Pasir Ris where there's a nice huge playground and you can pay for the kids to fish for guppies.

Universal Studios (as mentioned by others)
Sentosa's beaches (there are many activities there now)
Marina Barrage (as mentioned by others)
Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park (as mentioned by others)
Chinese Gardens (but now may not be the 'season' because not much activities there)

When we came back for a visit after being away for 2 years, all my dd wanted was to eat (can't get decent chinese food in the ulu town that we lived in), soak in the swimming pool (couldn't quite get used to the hot weather), spend time with her cousins and catching up with local TV programs. She didn't care so much about visiting the new malls or parks

For food wise, I remember Chomp Chomp, Changi Village hawker centre. They are still there? :?

I have heard also heard about the parks and how now many of them are linked and we can cycle from park to park, anyone knows which park is good to start? Bishan park, east coast park? TIA everyone!! :celebrate:

First of all, a warm welcome back to Sunny Singapore even if it is for a short holiday.

Yes, Chomp Chomp is still around, though the place has undergone some renovation and it may not look like what it used to be. Now there is also another hawker centre just opposite Chomp Chomp if food is on your list.

This place that I am talking is where the Serangoon Gardens Market used to be. It's now home to a brand new hawker centre. Most of the hakwers there come from Botanical Gardens Hawker Centre.

Changi Village hawker centre is still there. And if you are going all the way there for food, maybe might be a good idea to hop onto one of those bum-boat rides to Pulau Ubin for your kids to experience some kampong life?

Parks, we have plenty and there are lots to do at the various parks. Here's a link to our National Parks website if you are interested in cycling or walking around the parks.

Apart from eating and eploring parks, camping, BBQ at Parks and kite flying at Marina Barrage are good suggestions too.
