      Hi Janet,

Did u received a list of words that Guppy mentioned before during orientation? Thanks.
No. I went through the file of notes/handbooks hubby brought back but found no word list. However, principal mentioned gotta start reading this hols. There is also that Reading Recovery program...don't know what it's all about. Honestly, not really in the mood for anything related to school now.

        Hi Berry/Janet,

They must have changed their expectation. You can make your own list. It had prepositions, pronouns, colours, simple adjectives, nouns, verbs, adverbs. However, if a child can read on her own, she'll be able to spell most of the words easily except for those non-phonics words.

Wishing your girls a good learning journey at the school.

          Hi Guppy,
Thank you for your introduction and valuable tips to P1 in CHIJ TP. As parents, we look forward to a fresh new start to formal schooling after 3/4 years in kindergarten. Hubby has a good impression of Mrs Tan, the principal. As for myself, I can't wait to see my daughter wearing that same uniform I once wore...it will be so exciting.

Have a great holiday and keep in touch. Once again, thank you.

              Hi Berry,

I just saw your pm to me but your id doesn't allow pm replies.

I can't find the 100 wordlist and it's most likely thrown away. Googled and found this website might be a good starting point

              http://www.all-about-spelling.com/spelling-list-for-1st-grade.html

If your dd can't spell all the words by the time the year starts, don't need to worry too much. It happened with my own dd but gradually she picked it up on her own. She learnt from her own mistakes.

                Hi All,

So didn't get to see who is who last Friday cuz so rushed. Maybe we should PM one another for our hp numbers :). My hubby said the next time when there is orientation for our next girl, I am on my own. Our dear fren fell alseep amidst the talk from the principal des

BTW, anyone who has tried to buy the P1 books online may encounter a discrepancy in the \"Compulsory School Items List 2011\". Cuz our booklist states the cost is $18 but Pacific Bookstore system reflects $19.70.

Called them up to clarify and the staff told me to wait till after 2 pm today cuz the system is being updated thus that may have made some things screwy.

Hubby pre-ordered online...for collection next Fri. But hey, thanks for informing us.

The talk by principal passed 8+.
My gal will be in Hibiscus...I think the girls are allocated to different classes based on their surnames. Hubby's ex-colleague has a daughter going to P1 next year too but in Orchid (she registered under Phase 1 as she has 2 elder sisters in IJ).

I think I mention before that my hubby can sleep anywhere, anytime. Even standing up! And the principal's voice was a little shrill and yet he can sleep through....

My hubby can also snore regardless of the noise. He can drink a cup of coffee at night and still sleep. Was waiting for him to 'change shift' with me at KK last week (son had op)...called him at 8 and he said principal still addressing the parents.
