I believe there are 8 P4 mainstream classes, A to H. P1 and 2 have 10 classes which are reduced to 8 mainstream classes from P3 onwards.[/quote]It was 10 mainstream classes previously, from A-J. Was it reduced recently?
If there are 10 P4 classes, how come there are only 8 P3 classes?jtoh:

If that's the case, since there are only 8 classes (40 students each) in P3, about 3-4 students from each P2 class will be in the same class in P3. -
Hi jtoh
Based on info from RGPS’s website, there are 8 mainstream P4 Classes and 3 GEP classes for 2010 and 8 P3 Classes.
Cheers! -

You're right, only 8 classes in P4 this year, and 9 classes in P5 and 6 this year. Previously there was 10 mainstream classes A-J. I wonder why the numbers are reducing. Did RGPS reduce its intake in recent years? -
Hi jtoh, sorry i m unable to advise wrt yr query. My dd just joined rgps this year under the Gep programme. Tx

From 2007 registration year (p1 in 2008), intake was 300. Prior to that, intake was 330/360 so looks like intake was reduced but since 2007, intake was stable at 300. Found the stats in school's website.

You will see the intake numbers reducing over the last few years if you take a look at the P1 reg stats from RGPS website.

If we based on the recent years intake, the number of students and classes for each level should be something like this.
P1 - 10 classes (30 each class)
P2 - 10 clasees (30 each class)
P3 - 8 classes (about 40 each class)
P4 - 8 classes (about 40 each class - 4A to 4H where E/F are the top mainstream classes) plus 3 GEP classes (25 each class - 4P, 4Q and 4R)
The students from the 3 GEP classes came from all over SG althought I heard there were more from RGPS. But I do not have the figure. -
Asked the FT during PTC and she said P2 to P3 allocation is done ‘systematically random’ lol… Anyway all the girls in the same class will be sort of ‘mixed abilities’.
Not too sure about school bus this Friday. But my husb will send my dd go for the P1 orientation performance. -

I was told about 1/3 of the GEP cohort were from RGPS P3 girls and every year the statistics would be about the same. -

Hi Luanee,
what did the FT say abt the CCA? Forgot to ask her that day
We made 6 choices via the internet and apparently, we are unsucessful. We didnt even get 1.
That’s puzzling. Wonder how they do the allocation?
Then next year when CCA beomes compulsory. Confirm we cant get anything of our choice?
So I guess its good to start early…
Pat
